I was tempted to put this in modding as it is indeed a Mod and for me it was my first real introduction to the world of modding possibly for others too. Before G4 there was Tech TV which launched a few years before G4 did. On it was this show, the Screen Savers a show that
now that it is gone (along with sister show Call for help) I am far less computer literate. Any way in the Spring of 2003 a massive gamebox
was unleashed upon the masses and I had never seen anything like it and was I ever amazed.......THE YOSHI'S BOXX.

All these years later I'm still impressed by it. Recently Ben Heck made his own all in one machine but this monster is a bit more impressive. A year later another box was made but it wasn't nearly as impressive.

TO my knowledge this is the first real main stream modded machine that I know of. As such I wanted to share this obscure piece of gaming history for those that never got Tech TV or those who wanted to see a show like this from before the Comcast corruption.

'Every game you ever want to play in this box'. Yeah, except it doesn't play Dreamcast, Saturn or any other SEGA games (bar emulation).

wow i remember seeing one of these years ago (did up to PS2, GC i think) - really amazing for the time especially since building an emulator PC was not really a viable option at the time

    cheers for the vid

I love how amazed I was when this episode first aired, and now all I see is how sloppy a lot of it was.

I remember some goon in high school was talking about this like it was the coolest most amazing thing ever... then we looked for it on the internet and couldn't find anything about it. Forever this box has a negative connotation in my head... and it seems a little pretentious to pick Yoshi as your nickname.

I think Yoshi came from somebody calling him Yosh as his name was Joshua.

    The Follow up

I remember watching this when it aired and I thought it was abit clunky. I've always liked the designed look of gaming consoles so seeing them in one PC box didn't impress me much. I guess if you want to save space it would be nice.

As an aside I always hate when modders show off one of a kind items. Theres always people who want to purchase one but of course it doesn't exit. Thats why I'm not a big fan of Ben Heck, cool he made a 360 laptop but who cares if its just for himself? There are some modders on youtube who do sell their mods and charge abit for it (like in the hundreds) but I have more respect for that becaue they're willing to share with the community what they've done.

I think I remember reading about this in EGM. I thought it was an interesting concept, but ugly.

Too bad he didn't use nothing but RF adapters into the All-In-Wonder.

Now there is a name I haven't heard since the demise of TechTV.
