So I watched the new 2014 TMNT trailer and thought it looked AMAZING, but a lot of people are complaining about it saying things that "real fans" wouldn't be complaining about. I've been a huge fan since I was a kid and made my first youtube video in response to all the negativity. I'd like to know if anyone here has seen it and what you think. ALSO if your already hate the trailer and think the movie is going to bomb please watch my youtube video. I guarantee it'll change your mind. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qSTlWNHpUmM If you like the video please thumbs up or subscribe and as always thanks for reading my post.
I wasn't blown away by the teaser trailer, need to see some more footage. Still not convinced about Megan Fox being cast as April but again, too early to really make any judgements.
The Ooze is still alien. Its always been alien. Thats what they ment when they first used the word "alien" to describe the movie. Alot of people dont get that becuase they only know the 80's/90's cartoon turtles and the 3 Movies but its always been alien since the original comic book series. My video explains everything and if you got the time I suggest you watch it. It even explains why shredder is white.
as someone that has also read the comics, i have to say your video has a valid statement, i think the movies going to be great.
I'm aware, but if I recall the original script called for the turtles to be aliens, not just the mutagen.
I really don't like the design of the new turtles. They look too "human", which makes them creepy. I doubt any TMNT film/show will ever match the original movie in my mind.
The first word on the trailer, "Michael Bay" and that was enough to putthe dampers on things. After seeing the shit he calls Transformers, I have no hope for this. Oh, and the turtles look stupid as does Shredder.
I didn't care for the turtles faces and like Yakumo said having Michael Bay involved gives it a 98.9% of being garbage.
People take this way too seriously and should look at the original movies without nostalgia goggles: the first one is actually watchable, but the second and especially the third one are terrible. It's not like it's going to be a disgrace to a great cinematic legacy or something, just something that 20-30 somethings can whine about while screaming "MY CHILDHOOD BAWWWW" on the Internet.
I totally agree with you. I'm 30 and knowing what I know about all the turtles universes and what I saw in the trailer rekindles my faith in the concept of using movies as a medium to portray the Turtles. I was let down by the 2007 TMNT movie but this movie is going to be the holy grail of Turtles movies.
Yeah, I'm with Yakumo and A. Snow on this. I was excited about this until I saw the words "Michael Bay" flash on the screen. I think it's great they are following the comic rather than the cartoon. The models don't bother me either. The only Bay film I've even remotely liked was the Island, and that might have been because I was not sober when I saw it.
Michael Bay is only producing the movie anyway, I'd be more worried about Jonathan Liebesman, who made Battle: Los Angeles among other turds, being the director. Besides, Pain & Gain was really good and very different from other Michael Bay movies.
Hahaha so true! All of his moves have "signature" moments. The slow motion dramatic scene, the spinning shot, the constantly tilted camera (for no reason), the american flag waving, blue and orange camera filters... and let's not forget explosions and more explosions, sparks,... More of his cliches: http://www.geekscape.net/7-cliches-from-michael-bay-movies
I think its so funny that there is so much cynicism for a trailer when more then half of everyone who is complaining knows ABSOLUTELY NOTHING what so ever about the TMNT. I don't see anyone who is complaining have any factual basis in there complaints. I keep preaching to everyone and even provided a link for a youtube video I made that will explain everything. I just think its really funny that in an age of technology where we have little portable knowledge devices (internet browsers) built into our cellphones and the ability to learn anything we want 90 percent of the world would rather post there status on facebook and bitch about something without knowing anything about the subject what so ever. *Sigh*
MB is a tool, academic.... but i don't care! i SO want to see this, the latest in amphibian armed blags/bank jobs! can't wait to see how they feed their pizza habits this time! ANY TMNT and i'm SOLD! .... eyes forward! (and remember, don't be scared. it's only a mask!)
You don't have to have a "factual basis" to explain why you don't like something. It's subjective, it's down to personal taste. And you're wrong to say that everyone complaining knows nothing about TMNT. I've been a fan of the series since I was a kid; I've seen the cartoons and the movies. I even have the first movie on Blu-ray. As I said, I really don't like the design of the new turtles. I don't need to cite any "facts" to explain that. I just don't like them. However, if I were to attempt to explain it, I'd say they don't really look anything like what was in any of the older films or cartoons. I never read the comics, so I can't comment on that. I don't know what they were going for exactly, but it doesn't appeal to me. With all that said, it's hard to judge a movie just by its trailer. I'll withhold judgment of it until I actually see the film (if I decide that I want to see it), or until others have written reviews of it. But my first impression of it isn't too hopeful. I also think basically everything Michael Bay has been involved with has been total shit. Even though he's "only" producing it, it's safe to say he'll probably be heavily involved in it.
My initial feeling towards the trailer is a sour one. Michael Bay ruined the Transformers movies for me, so this will also probably not be something I'll like. But I'm a TMNT fan through and through and will give this a watch at least once when it comes out on video. Personally though, I feel the TMNT franchise has been circling the drain since TMNT: Fastforward.
@ la-li-lu-le-lo I respect your opinion, I really do. The point I was originaly trying to make was that the so called “hardcore fans” always seem to reject anything new. As a person progresses in age they should grow. The things you liked as a child are not necessarily as appealing to you now as they were then. That's not always the case, but I highly doubt anyone in this forum still watches Sesame Street religiously and if so its only for the sake of their children. I made the video in an attempt to try and qualm some fears. Even though its scary and unpredictable at times people must learn to embrace change. I full hardily admit I said “everyone complaining knows nothing about TMNT” only to emphasize my point about the recent art style change. The original comic book series went through six artistic changes alone and I explain in my youtube video why I think they borrowed heavily from the six other dimensions for this film. Saying your a “Turtles Fan” without knowing anything about the other six dimensions is like saying your a fan of Super Man because you watched Lois & Clark. What really bothered me was that a few people on the internet got sand in their cheeks from the trailer and rather then think for themselves, like lemmings, everyone decided follow suite and bash Michael Bay by jumping on the hate train without even looking. I'm not saying that’s what you did but a lot of the people who are condemning this movie are the same people who voted Gears of War to be a fuller deeper game then Wind Waker. Its not personal preference when you cant think for yourself. We live in a society were originality is considered strange and conformity is the norm. Please know that I'm not saying this about you. I do respect your opinion. That being said I have to disagree with you about Michael Bay ruining the Transformers Franchise. I honestly think he made it better. I tried to watch the original series along with the movie but it wasn’t appealing to me anymore. I had grown up, my tastes had changed. I am now a 30 year old adult. The Transformers (as well as the Turtles) are still near and dear to my heart but the 80's/90's versions just don’t appeal to me anymore. Sometimes the things we loved as children are better stored away in our minds but I challenge you to watch all the episodes and movies of both the original Turtles and Transformers without thinking their extremely corny not only by today's standards but by yourself as well.
