Yeah obviously he would have to use HDLGameInstaller, but thats part of the whole HDD OSD process. Any guide you look up on youtube or whatever will go through the process of using HDLGameInstaller.

Okay, I managed to figure out what my problem was when I was hooking the hard drive to computer and I am now using WINHIIP to install games on It and using OPL (version 0.9.2 VMC <Is this the latest?>) <By the way What would be the cause of not be able to create virtual memory cards for the games? Every time I try to do it, it fails.. Suggestions?>. But there are a few games I want to try out, but they in the .bin .cue format which WINHIIP doesn't like for some reason. It doesn't matter what it is, if it's in this format it just doesn't like it.. :(. I know most of these games with this time type of image is a CD but still. What's wrong with an .ISO?

Anyways is there a program I can use that will convert these files over to .ISO and still be able to play the game?

I like the idea of having the machine boot right into the browser and pick a game instead of OPL, but I got this working and it's fairly easy to add my games to it and download 'backup'.. I've already got a few on my list to buy now if the price isn't too high.

    Thanks! :)

Isn't installing over network a LOT slower than WinHiip due to the PS2 network adapter not going over 10Mbps?

Yes, but you won't expose the network adaptor to unneeded stress.

No, it's already 3-years old. Please upgrade to v0.9.3.

Did you create the +OPL partition? If you upgrade to v0.9.3, it will take care of that for you.

Why not mount the BIN+CUE disc image in Daemon tools and install it with WinHIIP? A ISO9660 disc image isn't used for CD-ROM games because data can be stored outside of the data region, which will be lost if the disc is imaged into an ISO9660 image.

Oooh, Thanks that worked like a charm. It even fixed a problem with an ISO I downloaded installed on the hard drive but wouldn't work. But I still don't understand how I get it to show up in the main menu of FMCB (yes I copied the program over to the MC). Is it possible you can give a step by step instruction? I did do a search, either I'm not putting in the right keywords or there isn't a set by step guid on that on editing so programs you copy over to the MC show up at boot.

As for using the MC (FMCB), I really have no problem using it as long as I can add my programs to the main menu and not use uLaunch overtime. :/

You just need to use the FMCB Configurator:
    1. Launch the FMCB configurator by either holding START before the FMCB logo appears or selecting it from the hacked OSDSYS menu.
    2. Load your FMCB configuration file (FREEMCB.CNF)
    3. Select the "Configure OSDSYS options" option.
    4. There will be a line that lists the options that are shown in the hacked OSD (OSDSYS items), one at a time.
    5. Press the D-pad's RIGHT/LEFT buttons to reveal the entry that you want to edit.
    6. Enter a title.
    7. Enter the path to the ELF. You can specify up to 3 possible locations for this ELF, although FMCB will boot the first one that it finds.
    8. Return back to the main menu.
    9. Save the FMCB configuration file.

I would agree with that. My intention is to load a bunch of ISO's to begin with via PC/USB, and if additions are needed use Ethernet.

You are the man/girl!!!! that worked great!!! Now I understand how to use it, I now know how to mod the menu for more apps that I might add at later time. THANK YOU!!!! :)

As for not using the FMCB I have no problem using it, I loaded up my hard drive using WINHIPP with all the games I am most likely going to play (LOTS! of RPGs, going to keep me busy for while), so I'm done messing with installing games. :/

This is something I'm wondering. In one of the install videos I watched when I first started this project, I noticed people had a skinner Link/HDD adapter for their FAT PS2 and it only had ethernet port on it and not both modem/ethernet like mine. Is this the Japan/Euro version or is there an updated version I might buy.

In one of the videos the guy mentioned that there are China knock offs, are these okay to use? Will they harm my HDD or unit?

Yes, the SCPH-10350 was sold in Japan and Europe.
Only the US got the SCPH-10281, as SONY identified that a significant portion of their US players still used dial-up.

The clone/compatible adaptors are generally badly implemented, so you may experience sub-par reliability and software compatibility. Your mileage may vary.

Okay gotcha, thanks for the heads up. I will just keep my eye out for a good priced US one then. :)

Unless you need the dial-up functionality, there is probably not a good reason to limit yourself to only that one model.

I have a have a PS2 with a modchip / HDD combo running ToxicOS. Had no clue there was now a softmod method for the PS2 other than the memory card FMCB. Are there multiple ways of doing it and if so what's the most current? Does it allow PS1 games as well as PS2 or only PS2 like Toxic?

FMCB/FHDB alone, will not allow you to play games that you cannot already play. ToxicOS is different; it is a game Loader too. If you want to stop using ToxicOS, you can use OPL with FMCB/FHDB to get the same effect.

However, please beware that you must not use normal homebrew software that support the HDD unit, with a HDD unit that was formatted for use with ToxicOS.

Ah ok thanks for the reply. Sounds like my PS2 already has a mod chip and works for what I want to do there is no advantage to switching at this point.
