Great news hope it comes true.. I Love the after burner games. i was so happy to find it in an arcade to play though a few years ago. Now where is HOTD 4 for the ps3 it has light guns damn it:evil:
I hope AM2 did the port; they did the VOOT port and it's good. They didn't do the Outrun2 port and it's bad.
The Outrun 2 port was a very low budget release. That's why it is not very good. It's not Sumo Digital's fault.
I didn't think OOA was bad per se, but it was missing a lot of features compared to Coast 2 Coast. Couldn't they really add all the music at least?
OutRun 2 and Marvel vs Capcom 2 are my two buggiest games on any current generation platform. They have serious stability issues going on.
I am the only one loving DL games? I am getting more fat and lazy with the years and seeing as I can now start and shutdown the console wireless and remotely I just love games that don't make me stand up and switch discs!! there are days I only play DL games and ahh what a heaven there is NO standing up whatsoever I do have mixed feelings about not having a phisical copy, but whatever welcome to the future.. I don't like and never did collecting current gen games. my passion will always go out to 4/5th generation stuff only as this were my nostalgic times. Great news on After Burner can't wait!
Why back them up? you can always just download them again from your history purchase list even stuff that is not on psn anymore.
Probably when the PS4 is out and they phase out the PS3 eventually the servers will go down, so one day yes you will loose your games if you have no backup and your ps3 hdd breaks etc. That is if sony doesn't allow you to upgrade your account, or redownload your stuff to your PS4 or something similar. Plus at the end of the day, we are talking about simple cheap games that are small or legacy PS1/PCE games I already own on other consoles for a couple of bucks you might loose out on one day I won't be too pissed. Are people thinking the same about all the Iphone games/apps etc? Plus if the game is released on disc as well I will always prefer the disc, tho will regret not buying the DL everytime I have to stand up to swap discs lol.
I can imagine many countries/occasions w/o an internet connection. Just making sure my options are open at the end of the day =D The most expensive games I ve bought this generation are at 25 GBP maximum. I can't afford more than that for even the best games so I usually wait to buy those second hand and I play cheaper (DL) arcadey games in the interim.
Sorry but i don't see PSN Store games like Burnout Paradise, Wipeout HD and some others as "simple cheap games". Not to mention DLC content for full games released on Blu-ray. When you talk about PS1/PCE, i could even do an exception and agree. But in my mind, if i paid for something, i want to have it till i decide i don't want it anymore. I won't expect or wait for Sony or any other company to decide that for me. Honestly we'll only start to see how problematic Digital Distribution is in the next 5 years. PS: Why everybody compares PSN and XboxLive to Iphone when we talk about Digital Distribution? I don't have an Iphone nor do i want one, and even if it has ultramegafantastic apps and games, it's just a portable device and not a full featured Gaming system. If you want to compare it to the PSPGo, then it's ok. But to compare it with the PS3, X360 or the Wii, it's just wrong.
Those full/expensive games you mention are only a few on PSN, you basically almost mentioned all of them! and they are all available or will be on hard copy's, so thats up to you. Sony doesn't decide that for you, you buy it its yours until you break your hdd and PSN doesnt excist anymore (or not like barcode has made a legal backup etc) see it as a game cd of Sony console x that got scratched from which you dont have a backup and if you do it's sort of illigal/grey area. Is Sony responsible to replace the legacy hard copy game that got broken? The games on your HDD will not mysteriously dissapear when Sony decides to pull the plugs of the PSN servers. One of the downsides is that you cant sell them seperatly when you get bored, just for this my personal opinion is that they should be a lot cheaper then retail hard copy's which they arn't sadly.. Still if you one day decide to sell all of the games you bought you can sell your account for what its worth clearly without a creditcard/personal info included: ugly but possible. And who knows, maybe one day they will add a feature to sell or gift the PSN downloads to other PSN users  would love to see such an option, I got games I never play that I would gladly give away even.
Because it's only comparing digital distribution, apple kinda started the revolution with the app store.. and everything purchased will be subject to the same or similar problems as the PSN/XBL etc. In no way in hell that I will compare the iphone itself with anything game handheld/console related eventhough many do.
If you add DLC extra content, the list gets huge. The point is, if you bought any DLC, be it a full game, a small game, a retrogame, or extra contents, make a backup of it. Sony does decide for me, when they say i can download contents bought on the PSN up to 5 different machines (if your console breaks). This doesn't cover how long they'll promise that. Don't get me wrong, but if i destroy a game CD, i can just go to any used game store or online auction sites and get a used copy to replace it. Apart from some really rare games, anything can be found easily. Sometimes even on pristine factory sealed, even for stuff with more than 15 years old. HDD's are not as reliable as pressed media. Did you never experience a dead HDD on a computer? So this is why people backup files. So this is why it's a good idea to backup downloadable content. As for selling accounts, it will all depend on PSN servers to keep working. Since we're talking about Sony, what stops them to come up with a different network system for the PS4? And then say they'll have to shutdown the PS3/PSP network someday after the PS4 release. I'm just shooting blanks here, just to prove that backup your stuff is a good idea. Actually that would be a nice feature. You could giveaway your used PSN dlc or buy a brand new dlc content and send it to a friend. This could be very interesting for parents and relatives who want to give presents to a kid. Anyway, to finish, i'm not saying DD is the evil and physical media should be the only way to go. I'm just pointing some blank areas that DD has, since it's a new thing. If an Iphone dies 3 years from now, there will be already a new phone with tons of more new features. People will simply dumpt it, that's why i don't compare the Iphone / AppStore to any gaming system. The Iphone is a gimmick device that will die and people will remember as a very cool thing, but as soon as there's the next better phone people will stop using it for the new one. Gaming systems will still continue to be used / played as long as people like games. Just think about the retro community of systems like Atari2600, Famicom/NES,...
