I've had ninja turtles on the brain since yesterday. CW Kids has been runing the 10 best episodes of the most recent series (which while closer to the comics isn't as fun as the old cartoon) Alot of reviews of the old 8 and 16 bit games have been popping up on You Tube and Nickelodeon just got the rights to the series.

I know this year is the I think 25th Anniversary of the comics and 20th for the show that started the craze. So I got thinking, What is it about them that has made them so endearing? Would we the gamers still remember them as Fondly as we do had Konami not made so many Kick ass games with them in it?

And why are they still Teenagers? Shouldn't they be in their 30s now?

    Its all Nostalgia.

I used to be CRAZY nostalgic over the Digimon anime for Seasons 1 and 2, but after watching it again, I noticed a lot more of its flaws than when I was 13.

That's the thing I STILL think the show is awesome. In fact I think the new Show sucks. (how many times can you say "What the shell"

Also Mr Casual you have animated Joker as your AV, Tell me that show isn't still awesome? I have the whole series on DVD and I LOVE IT.

GoH: the new series (not the fast forward one) is okay in my book. Cause I love the darker atmosphere in it. But my biggest gripe is actually listening to two different Danish actors dubbing Michaelangelo , in the fast forward series the actor is annoying at best while in the dark series there he is "okay" but what really irked me the most, and to me pretty sacrilegious us that they have dubbed the original (the fun and not very dark at all) series in Danish. And it really irks me. When I hear them speaking Danish.
But if you ask me, then I would rather watch them in English with Danish subtitles. If I would have any subtitles, cause some times the people who makes the subtitles can NOT write Danish worth a damn at all. And that is even worse , and my teeth grinds at the same time because of it. I have had quite a few bad experiences with bad subtitling, and I have really some times hoped some body took the old subtitles (from VHS and what not) and put them on. And this is not cartoons, but also a load of films with Danish subtitles that has just been too horrible to read. But then again there are other times where I really enjoy the Danish dubbing. But then it really has to be a good dubbing .

I have nothing against the darker turtles INFACT:

There's one story where Michealangelo is drunk and staggering around and ends up in some rain forest thingy. Cool stuff.

I like that splinter is Hamato Yoshi in the 1980s-90s cartoon rather than the pet of Yoshi. Probably the main reason I prefer the cartoon.

Ninja Turtles were ridiculously awesome, but if you watch the show today you realize how dumb it really was  Just like every other 80s cartoon really (yes, even Transformers). I have no idea why they got so popular, but I think it's because they ate pizza and had cool ninja weapons, simple as that. I also love the first two movies, especially the Vanilla Ice scene in the second one

Also, the Turtles anime was hilariously bad: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vGMfb60lc14

The anime is almost a parody. LOL!

I stand by my statement that the old Series is still awesome

I love the 80s cartoon I grew up with. It was the best. Plus I love the live-action movies. They don't make them at that average level anymore.

Apparently a CGI series is in the works now.

I think the anime may be a parody of Saint Seiya (sp?) and mecha stuff.

The old series is awesome because it puts me in a good mood (as well as making me hungry for pizza), but it is really stupid..which may be why it's so awesome in the first place.

Anyone remember the live action TMNT series from the 90s, made by the Power Rangers people? Now that reached new levels of awfulness..I even remember a crossover episode between that and Power Rangers in Space

Damn, I remember watching the unbearably cheesy Sonic cartoons (yes, American ones) that we'd rent from Blockbuster Video when I was like... 5 or 6 years old.

I have a lot of nostalgia for Pokemon as well. I was almost about to enter my teens at that time.

I miss how simple life was and how cool and fresh everything seemed. I guess that really is why I still play my old Sega stuff the most and all of the kids today are obsessed with the modern stuff.

I loved the TMNT back in the day. I still should have a large crate of actionfigures and VHS tapes somewhere. Time to dig it up again. :D

I liked the show back in 1995, but I LOVE it now that I've seen how great the plots were back in 1995 in retrospect. Its not nostalgia talking, it was awesome how Mark Hammill portrayed the joker...his laugh was first recorded and then drawn to mimic him, which I found really cool.

Batman: The Animated Series is probably the best cartoon series ever.

    Along with Beast Wars.

I've always hated the Turtles, Power Rangers and whatever was popular back in the 90's just like I hated action figures and other plastic toy stuff other kids were crazy about. I even hate them today and can't see any "charme" or whatever in them, for me it's just cheap trash with zero entertainment value :|.

When I was 12 (2001) I liked a whole lot more of the TV program that I now consider to be utter shite - and I must admit that it actually did not change that massively to be honest.
Back then I thought the best things to spend money on in life were video games, comics and vintage Lego. The latter I can't afford space-wise anymore, but if I had the room & funds to afford it in addition to my other hobbies, I wouldn't hesitate for a second to rebuild my thrieving little Lego town.

Referring to Parris' funny but true comic strip, I have to say that all Lego after 1999 is crap. Personally, I think the best Lego came out from 1991-1997. I even bought vintage Lego in the age of 10-12 because I was so frustrated with the new releases (few but huge parts and really steep prices, focus on that Bionicle bullshit). In that case: YES, Lego was the best when I was 10!! But that doesn't mean anything, my ex-English teacher collects vintage Lego from <1980 ^^

It's the same reason Arkham Asylum is awesome it has the same writers as the animated series AND the same cast. There was one episode towards the end of it's run that even paid homage to the Dark Knight returns I missed it then but I caught it now.

Batman is indeed the best Cartoon series ever. True to the comics but JUST kid friendly enough to be shown during the day. Probably some of the best cartoon voice over work ever.

As far as that live action show, Even the Creators of the turtles won't talk about it as far as they're conserned the 5th turtle never existed.

Arkham Asylum was written by the TAS guys? A good reason to play that game as soon as possible..not that I needed another reason.

Which episode was an homage to The Dark Knight Returns? I can't remember anything like that, and I have the whole series on DVD.

it was near the end when they changed the animation style The episode title is Legends of the Dark Knight

The plot as described in wiki isSummary: A group of Gotham City youths tell their stories about what they believe the Dark Knight to really be like. One story is reminiscent of the Dick Sprang era comics from the 1950s and/or the 1960s live-action Batman television series. Another is reminiscent of Frank Miller's 1986 graphic novel The Dark Knight Returns.

The girl in that episode is also exactly like Kerri Kelly. in TDR

Yeah Paul Dini wrote the plot to Arkham Asylum the cast from the seires returns the only new voice is Scarecrow is is WAY better than the voice in TAS. Creepier he also has an awesome new costume design.
