I know theres a few of you guys here that play either or. Im personally getting into airsoft right now, and its proving to be quite fun. Dont make this into a paintball vs airsoft debate, just share some stories, your guns, whatever Heres my gun, a TM P-90 with a flashlight. Magazine holds 65 rounds, other one holds 300. Semi Auto, or Full Auto, with Red Dot Scope. Quite fun I have a cheap pistol as my side arm.
BB Gun's essentially. I would like to get into it, but it's an expensive hobby, about the only thing I have is this crappy little Colt:
You live in Japan and haven't heard of Airsoft in some way or another? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Airsoft
Yea. airsoft is pretty popular in Japan, though its starting to catch on in the US. Basically, instead of paintballs, its small plastic BBs. I honestly find it to be a heck of a lot more fun then paintball, and quite a bit cheaper
Airsoft just catching on? I used to play in middleschool (10+ years ago) I think now I'd be more interested in real guns
Well, compared to Paintball Its obviously not new, but Paintball has always been the dominant thing, at least near me.
DOes getting hit by airsoft hurt more than paintball (specifically when the paintball does not burst) when hit at the same distance?
I've never been hit with a paintball but I can safely say airsoft pellets hurt a lot less. Cheap airsoft guns are spring powered so they're kinda weak but gas and electric guns I don't know about. I'm sure they'd hurt in the face.
:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol: I really laughed out loud when I read that last line. I got shot with an airsoft at point blank right in the side and it stung for a little bit and the wound turned red.
Depends on the gun, and the person. Ive made people bleed from a good distance using my gun, and my brother's springer has too, though that was a bit closer. On other people from the same distance, little effect.
Back in the day, where I heard of airsoft, then it was called hardball , and paintball was socalled "soft". But the real difference between the two airguns is this. The paintball bullets are bigger, and when they hit then you are coloured with the paint. Where the hardball, had both soft paintball bullets and hard plastic bullets. And they were smaller, than the paintball bullets. So that is the big difference between the two games. the small differences can always be read at the wikipedia article, and the others can explain some other stuff. But being hit by either bullet without protection, hurts like a motherfucker. And if I remember correct, then there is an older thread about this too.
I could buy a real AR-15 with the money people pour into their TM or CA equivalent. Though me shooting someone with it would bring forth less than desirable reprecussions.
That's my problem. As much as I'd like to get a good airsoft rifle I just cant justify the price when for a little more (or in some cases less) I can get something real. Still, I find myself consistently amazed at the ingenuity and variety that airsoft manufacturers come up with.
Find me a p90 for 200$ and Ill gladly buy one. AK-47s are cheap and fun and whatever (My brother owns 3), but you still cant shoot at people and do what you can do with airsoft guns.
Airsoft guns I was aware of but I'd always heard the term BB gun. But for the longest time I confused BB gun with actual pellet rifles you might use to kill small animals. Airsoft guns will certainly sting depending on the amount of force behind the pellet. I actually saw an airsoft gun and this guy said these plastic BBs really hurt. I was all like "you big pussy, those are tiny" and then just about point blank shot myself in the arm with it. It had a bit of a sting (to bare skin) but it wasn't bad. I recently heard they have airsoft shotguns that fire a hell of alot of BBs which sounded fun to me. Airsoft is more interesting to me than paintball. Probably because the weapons actually mimic real guns where as paintball guns are odd contraptions. Also because the paint is a mess and I think paintball is alot more expensive to play with. It's not that expensive to get some friends and go somewhere to shoot at eachother.
Sorry but $1300 is about the cheapest I've seen for a PS90 so I can't help you there. That brings up another point though. Airsoft isn't as likely to get banned by the stroke of a pen due to the actions of some dumbass so I've got to get what I want while I still can. Hopefully they won't start banning airsoft in the name of the children by the time I'm done. BTW: Have you seen the airsoft claymore mines? Very cool.
Yea, if they werent so expensive, Id pick one (or two) up lol, same with a mine. But for a makeshift claymore, attach a string to the much cheaper grenade, and use that
The real deal P90? Isn't that gun banned for sale in the US due to the Brady Law (that one law NRA would love to be taken out).
