I'd be interested in a Turbo Duo or Neo Geo CD if you come across one.

You'll be very sorry you ever said you'd go shopping for people now  Believe me  Been there, done that. It's just not worth it. There are much easier a better ways to buy games for people rather than scouting round shops wasting your time.

Indeed, Yakumo does know what he is talking about. As I go to Akihabara at least once or twice a week I know that most of the requests you aren't going to find or the ones you might are going to be so cheap that you'll question if it's worth it. One question is, how are you going to work out postage for the items if you don't have said items?

You'll find easily, but is it worth it to make enough money to buy you a can of coffee and maybe a mochi? Although it is Assembler so I'm sure you'll do it for the love rather then the money.

Not seen a Pana Q for a while now and the last one I saw was around Y35,000, but to be honest you'd be better off buying one from Ebay as you might find it cheaper and it's likely to be modified to play US games and be region free DVD player. Samba, turn up every so often but they are a pain to pack, you'll probably end up spending quite a bit of money on packing materials to pack it...

Hmm given that they weren't sealed in the first place that is going to be an interesting trick. See Neo Geo AES comment below too. :p

Had being the correct word there.

If Tetris did turn up anywhere then it's likely it would be there for the shortest time ever regardless of price. If I saw it, then I would buy it anyway even if just to sell on.

Sealed? They were never sealed in the first place... all the bags you see games in are done by the shops not by the company or distibutors... Most games are going to be used but minty minty mint.

Er no, as people want items that you aren't going to find easily or are so cheap that 10% is likely to get you a light snack or a beer and not much else. You also get people wanting new stuff for old items and for items that aren't sealed that is going to be very hard to do, plus most shops won't treat new items that much differently from minty mint second hand items (for example my Playstation 3 was second hand, but was new, probably due to someone buying on to sell on Ebay, finding out they weren't going to get rich and sold it back making less of a loss then selling it on Ebay...). Plus you will find that some items are going to be the same or more expensive then you might be able to get them locally via Ebay or something (Panasonic Q being a good example, more plentiful on Ebay and cheaper too...). Then you have the fun of packing and sending the items, if you are going to make a tiny 10% then it might be an idea to calculate how much packing materials will cost as well as knowing how much it will cost to send as well as the hassle of trying to do a claim if the items go missing in transit. You'd be better off buying a load of games and then just whacking them on Ebay.

Surprisingly AES machines don't turn up that much, but unboxed they do show up but they are fairly expensive for what they are and then you have the fun of testing the machine... which some shops can do more easily then others.

Ooh something sensible and should be easy to find. An unboxed Neo Geo CD is cheap at around Y4000 to Y6000 but still going to be expensive to send.

Heh, this offer proved kinda popular, huh? I'll try for the rarer stuff, but don't hold your breath. The PS3 and Dualshock controllers will be easy, so it's a question of shopping around for the cheapest offer. I'm compiling a list and will get cracking on Monday once I've done my research on some of the things I'm not so familiar with.

@Jamtex: Guestimating should work pretty well. Most games won't be over 1kg and you can Google the weight of heavier items like consoles. Just gonna have to play it by ear for the moment. Here's my eBay feedback if anyone wants to see:

That's a big no on the guestimating. I sold stuff on ebay using that same principle and ended up losing money on most items. You'll be working on a small margin and want to keep wastage down to keep costs up.

As much as this seemed to start off as a thing to do in your spare time, if you allow it, you will be caught up in it all far too much for peanuts in your pocket.

If you do go ahead with this then widen your shopping area from Akiba or you'll just end up with stupid high prices on everything. If you are buying stuff new try to get it from Yodobashi or Bic camera, once you've signed up for a points card there you could grab a PS3 and then some controllers from the points.

That is if you are on visa that disallows getting tax taken off.

I am sorry for not being clear enough. What I meant by sealed Neo Geo AES are new games with the Neo Geo Sticker on the side, sign that the game is brand new.

I am looking for any brand new JPN AES titles. THanks!

I am aware that for later titles, some do not even have the Neo Geo sticker seal on the side. But if it's a new AES game, the shop should have a circle sticker saying 新品 on the game. And that's fine too. I am looking for 新品 AES games.

There isn't going to be much in the way in new AES games, mainly because most shops that do sell Neo Geo games are going to be shops that mainly sell second hand items and unlike games which do have factory sealing so they can be sold as new, games which don't will be sold as mint, even if they are new as I've bought Shin Samurai Spirits and King of Fighters 95 in a mint state and only noticed it was new as the cartridge pins were still clean and scratch free.

As for the sticker, well don't put too much faith in that as it's easy to remove the sticker, clean it up, use a low adesive spray glue and bobs your uncle a new sealed game...

Obviously you did it wrong, as there are loads of people (many here) that make money doing the same thing.

Spend 1500 yen on a scale. Problem solved.

Ah but he has said he is only going to be here for a few weeks, I'm sure he could buy some scales and add the cost between the postage costs and hope no one notices.

One thing I do find funny is the lots of requests for rare or unusual items, people seem to think that Akihabara is some sort of gaming mecha, where it's more lots of second hand shops selling mostly overpriced games or new shops selling new games at near retail cost...

One thing that makes me laugh is the fact that PS3 games new are sometimes cheaper then what other shops sell them second hand... :banghead:

Well actually Akihabara IS a gaming mecha compared to like any other part of the world.
It may have been better in the past, but I haven't been there back then so I can just judge my experiences and I did not get disappointed.
Some stuff like a Panasonic Q or sealed NGH games aren't easy to find even in Japan, yes, but where else can you buy for example retail boxes with 10 copies of an 15yr old game for like 10$? It's all available, just like vintage consoles and shitloads of retro gaming goodness.
Don't unterestimate the country you live in, it still is the ultimate place to go for a collector.

Not terribly likely, but if you stumble across a working "System 246" I'd be really happy to consider purchasing it at a reasonable price :)

    http://www.system16.com/hardware.php?id=802

Believe it or not I was offered one elsewhere - many thanks none the less. So, now it's "If you spot and System 246 SOFTWARE" please PM me ;-)

If you manage to find a copy of Super God Trooper Zeroigar for the PC-FX then I'd be chuffed. If you see any X68000s could you jot down the model number/name?

Just as an FYI, if you're looking to make some cash, buy as many PS3 Dual Shock controllers as you *possibly* can and slap them up on eBay. They are currently Japan only and collectors in the US and Europe will pay a pretty premium for them.
