Well Denmark is called the boozer of the scandinavian countries and it is pretty common to see young people getting drunk in Denmark, but it is at private parties they get drunk or other things, since well like in Sweden. We are not allowed to drink at public places untill we are 18. Edit I removed the teasing comment.
Whahahaha! Damn right! In Holland, (underage) drinking is pretty normal. Also, among university students, drinking beer is very much intwined with student culture. Heck, since I moved out of my parent's house and became board member of the student association I drink almost daily (though I 'only' become tipsy about thrice a week). Sad but true, it makes me more sociable and courageous...
I've tried that.. but I never get that drunk so I don't know what I'm doing.. so it wasn't really any difference then coding normally (maybe I did it a little slower but thats all) I actually think it's kind of strange, because I'm not some one who just drink one beer when I'm out having fun on the friday nights.. I'm more like: .... still I have never had a hangover the day after, been so wasted that I don't remember what I did the day before OR thrown up. It feels kind of strange in some way but hey, I'm happy that I don't have to feel that way ^^
For me its impossible to code when im drunk....either because i drunk too much (eg "physical disabilities" like being not able to focus the monitor) or drunk enough to not being able to concentrate myself on what im doing. Usually i skip coding when im drunk, and watch some tv. That's the better way methinks ^^
Drinking underage is pretty normal in Australia. We are after all a bunch of drunken convicts so it's kind of a right of passage. Most kids get drunk for the first time around 13-15.
Welcome to the typical US college experience. Underage or not, the people who don't go out and get plastered to the floor on weekend are in a very, very small minority, or they just don't talk about it. Seeing the depths of idiocy that human beings will sink to in a drunken stupor makes me wonder if the creators of Prohibition didn't actually have a good idea after all... I don't have anything against the consumption of alcohol, mind you - just excessive consumption. The legal drinking age in the US is 21, but I still think that's about 9 years too low - people who drink to get falling down drunk and try to pick up girls or start fights are obviously far from mature enough to be drinking alcohol. I never had a drink until I turned 21, and I now I can count on one hand the number of drinks I have per week. I limit myself to one per sitting - no matter what kind it is. Alcoholism runs strong in my family (both my great-grandfather and my grandfather on my dad's side essentially drank themselves to death via liver cancer) and I don't even want to come close to toeing that line. That said, there are few things better than a bowl of well-made ramen and an ice-cold beer at the end of a long school day! :icon_bigg
I'm not much of a drinker myself; I have to watch out for drugs a fair bit. It's not an "addiction", it's more of a habit. I'd say around 60% of my classmates (high school) get drunk every few weekends. That number is about the same for stoners, give or take a few dozen people. Luckily, the crack/meth/cokeheads are in the minority, although I don't consider that to be much worse than drinking in excess.
I haven´t had a drink for months and I am not a total abstainer at all. I just don´t like to loose control over my self. But I do enjoy alcohol now and then , when I feel like enjoying a drink . And no to drugs, I have seen too many fuckedup cases in my life, to say drugs are good. So drugs are bad mmmkay ? And I have smoked the splif 10 times, and it made me think. "this shit ain´t worth it" getting psychotic of it ain´t my style. I have had two very bad trips. So now you know why I am so against drugs.
All the teens around here drink and smoke weed a lot, myself included . It's not frowned apon at all really.
hm after reading my own post I thought should mention that I'm not a alcoholic, out drinking every day and geting large bills at the pub ;D I'm out like once in a month or so.. (I'm more of a workaholic.. so I tend to work alot instead).. just wanted to point that out so you don't get the wrong picture of me.. but then is a workaholic so much better? oO
Well down here, if you go to a super market you can take all the booze you want, even if you are 10 years old, nobody will ask you anything. The same think to a liker shop. If you go to a club, if you look over 14 you can go in and drink as much as you want, they dont's ask for an id [well if you are a babyface you will not let you pass, now i think some big clubs they do request for an id to prove that you are over 18] If you go to a club your chances is to drink not the "pure stuff" Now about driving and drinking, the police is very strict, if you have had two glasses of beer, you are in trouble :rambo:, if they stop you.:110: Finally here only a little number of youngsters drive [aka under 18] mostly saturday nights.
I think it's safe to say that underage drinking happens everywhere. Always has, always will. When I was underage I drank maybe once every two months or so but when I did drink it was to get drunk. Now that I'm legal to drink I hardly ever do and I haven't gotten blitzed since my 21st birthday. I think part of it is because knowing it's legal now takes some of the fun out of it. That and the price of the beer I like is so damn expensive.
If you live in europe you can go to a lid1 super market and get a 24 cans [1/2 L] for about 12e. Though not the good stuff but makes the job. :drink:
Here in my town (Caceres, little town in Spain - about 80000 inhabitants-) is very popular the "botellon" culture (botellon = drink alcohol in the street with your friends and music from a car, and after go to a disco). About 80% of young people in Caceres go to the "botellon" each weekend. A lot of people (High school and universitary) go out each thursday and saturday for do "botellon". Universitaries go each wednesday to discos for different universitary parties People begin to go to "botellon" about 15-16 years, and smoke about 13 years. It's very very easy buy alcohol because isn't necesary show for identity card and if i' was necessary you call and a friend with 18 years
Blur2040: is 21 really the drinking age in the U.S.? I thought it was different for each state. In Canada... I forget the drinking age, I think it's 19 all across Canada (but in Quebec the age limit is just a suggestion...) Canada's the same as most places, teenagers trying to get as drunk as possible, puking in the toilet, etc. When I was a kid, drinking was exciting, but now it's no big deal. (Though I have to admit, I just got shitfaced drunk at a party two nights ago.) Kids'll do it to excess until they finally learn that it's no fun to having a hangover every week. Growing up in Vancouver of course, it wasn't just a booze issue; many kids my age passed the marijuana around at parties. Ahh... good memories, as long as you drink semi-responsibly, of course.
ccovell > atleast it was it when I was there on e3 this year >=/ (and my 21th birthday is now in november...)
When I was in high school, it was easier to buy weed than it was alcohol. The US has the most fucked up priorities. I still don't understand the logic behind being able to go to war and get killed, but not being able to take a drink. That = weak ass shit.
