This topic is totali Off Topic...but this is the Off Topic part so i hope it's OK.

Here in Sweden, most of the teenagers DO drink alkohol around 2-3times/month, and, if it's holyday, 1-2/week isn't unusual. They're drinkin' home becouse every bar and live house require some sort of identification becouse it's 18 to get in.

So...during the weekend all too many tenagers going home to their friend, drinking some alkhol and gettin' drunk. In my class, i think it's around 70-80% that's doing this, and 90-95% of my friends are doing this. And...they have to goals with this....
Getting realy drunk and fucking a girl.

So, is this usual there you live too?

Getting drunk, sure, but the pathetic thing is that they're getting drunk in someones home and go there just to getting drunk. Not on in a live house and "oops...i think i was to drunk last day", it's more "hey, did you see how drunk i was!? I couldn't even stand up. It was soo fun!"
Some of my friend are getting false identification cards, just to get alkhol, not to get into live houses that require that you're 18 (all live houses require that...the one that doesn't does play blues or country (i live blues and country, nothing wrong with that!), but, the people that is there is usual 35+...fun...i'm 17...^^

Sorry for the bad english in this topic..;)

    Now, just one more thing...
This...way of acting, is preatty usual by people around 18-25 too, but then they're getting drunk on the bar instead. ;)

I remember in France during special occasions, when I was a year or 2 old, I could drink champagne. But that's different from the US...

Ireland is the land of alcohol! There's A LOT of underage drinking here - either going to pubs and nightclubs with fake IDs (though things have got a lot stricter since I was 17 ^_^), going to houses, or going bushin'.

Students over 18 aren't much better either - there's often house parties and stuff going around here, with booze being the key factor. And the University of Limerick is home to no more than 3 on-campus pubs!

I don't mind going to the odd barbecue (which almost invariably also involves booze) in the summer, or birthday parties and stuff, but I don't try and go overboard. I'm a really bad drinker anyway - I can barely take more than 4 pints ^_^

    What's bushin'?`

Oh, so there IS other places where they drinking like crazy! ^^

But, are there places to go if you're under 18, or, is it fake ID's or sitting home in front of the TV with a friend if you want to have fun? Becouse here...every single nighclub, pub and live houses require that you're 18yrs old...atleast nearly everyone. The one that doesn't require that don't need to, mostly becouse like i said, the people that going there is 35+ anyway. ;)

I don't mind drinking some cider, but, i don't want to get drunk...;)

Its not too dissimilar here. Many people just get into pubs/clubs under 18 and get pissed, theres also good old house parties where people just bring their own alcohol (either acquired from their parents, older siblings, or just pulling off looking 18 in a supermarket)

Me and my friends take a slightly unusual approach. A friend of mine knows a person who owns a large field near the centre of my town. So we get a fire going, a few tents, and then the beer flows :D

We generally are drinking to get drunk, but its also to socialise and just have fun - even if you aren't drinking or not drinking much, people still have fun.

    Hah, Alcohol.
Were i live (Italy) you can buy a bottle even if you are 9. Well prolly the shopkeeper will ask you what its for, but with a lie you can empty your first bottle easily.
In my region (South Tirol), they catch like 50 driver licenses every weekend, mostly of them >20 years, despite the fact that the limit for driving is 0,5%0 (promille, not percent!) . No, its not a joke. Bearing in mind that we have nothing more than ~300.000 people living in ST, you can get out how much they drink. I used to drink alot when i was at highschool, but it was the "drink yourself six feet-under" trend of the nineties...you know, Nirvana, Alice in Chains, Metallica..the pre-millennium tension...It took me some to stop drinking that much. Because you always end with a beer in your hand, independently of where you are - at school (yes even there you could smuggle in alky!), at work, at home...its sad, but here its just the philosophy...you get out to a trekking in the mountains? Lets step by a Refuge to drink some beer or some "grappa"...and play some songs with the guitar (which is the nice part of it).

y4ar0ze, your post remind me of what it's like here at school.

Most of the people in merry old Oxford spent their weekends drunk/waiting until it's late enough to get drunk. Everybody tends to be broke, even the people who are filthy fucking rich...it all goes to booze.

The US drinking age is of course 21. This poses a problem...as most people here don't hit 21 till their third year...and of course they just have to be wasted all weekend. Pretty much everybody has a friend who has or has their own fake ID. Basically everybody who wants alchohol can get it.

A lot of em get arrested though...99% of crimes in our local and school newpaper involved "Miami student <<insert name here>> caught walking down High Street carrying a red plastic cup. Saw police, tossed cup/hid cup. Cop does sobriety test, dumbass tries to talk their way out of it. Dumbass has to appear in court the next day>>...and the University adds their own hilarious penalty...probably some kind of alcoholics class, but if you get caught underage more than twice, you'll probably get kicked out.

Needless to say, if I do drink, it's done very discretely.

If I drink, I'll drink very little, and only to be sociable. I've never been drunk (tipsy is another story), and I don't really want to try getting there.

Here in Germany (to be spercific: Hamburg) underage drinking is pretty usual. There is not one weekend where you dont see drunk kids. Its legal to drink beear with 16, but hard liqour is only allowed when over 18. But most 16-18 year old teens drink hard liqour, too. Its not hard for them to buy hard liqour, eveb though it is prohibited to sell hard liqour to teens under 18.

You see a lot of teens in clubs, too. They drink there, too.

So "lawwise" it is settled pretty good, maybe a bit too easy. I find the regulations good. But if most of the teens dont stick with laws (which a lot dont do), they are worthless.

And if they get caught, its more the parents which get in trouble than the teens. A lot of people think that way, cause if you dont raise your kids right its your fault. BUT I know a lot of kids which come from god home and do some insane drinking... so its their own fault

Underage drinking is common here in holland, and the ammount people drink these days is just insaine. They drink at younger ages by the day, and only seem to care to get drunk as fast as possible, spend a fortune on booze, wake up on sunday without having a clue what the fuck they did and how they got home and then proudly brag about it their friends on monday.

It might be just me but the ammount of drinking young people do these days is just insaine and the sad thing is it's concidered cool and normal i mean what the fuck is cool about being drunk/getting drunk it's a drug it's bad for you it's a simple as that. A few drinks with friends yes, but drinking cases of beer and booze untill you pass out, what's the point ?

Underage drinking is here in PA as well. I personally choose not to drink, despite being over the legal age for consumption. Just never needed something to lighten my mood, Im a happy guy as it is heh. Besides, I dont really like the idea of taking something thats going to artifically alter the way I feel.

At the school I went to in england drinking and using drugs was very common at night in school. It wasn't even remotely stamped down upon by those in charge. It was just one of the traditions of the school. I was quite a big drinker around 16/17, it is just one of those things you need to get out your system when you're young. Though I did do a whole week of nomi-hodai/ tabe-hodai (all you can eat/drink) in Japan last golden week. There was this place we found in takamatsu where each table had its own beer tap! Hangover + dogo onsen = heaven.

Shit, looks like drinking if you're not 18 (or 21) is pretty usual, and getting drunk to.
I though that it was a typical "Swedish thing".

    Dogo onsen?

Bad that it's so common that teenagers do drink so much now...or, not realy drink alkohol (i don't have a problem with that!), but drinking the shit just to get drunk.

Sorry dogo onsen is a hot bath/ tourist place in shikoku, very useful to get over hangovers.

Well it is pretty much the norm, my little sister (15) gets drunk at least every weekend. Not saying its a good thing, but at least half the kids at school got drunk or high on a regular basis in my experience. I'm being mr healthy at the moment. Not even drinking coffee, I have some fruit everytime I want a coffee and I'm feeling very good at the moment, with perhaps even more energy than I used to.
