    I don't rate Alienware whatsoever.

The small number of PC games I (and likely others) play each year do not warrant such an expensive notebook.
Are there really PC gamers out there who can justify spending this kind of money?

Thats the thing, you can't say they are the only company to do such specs, it's the cheesy glowing eye's cases, and the name that guarantee's you have more money than sense thats the appeal.

There was nothing wrong with Alienware 5 years ago before their popularity got the better of them. Now with their ugly cases, immense prices and total newb factor they should be less than desireable for elite people ;p I hate computing today. IMO the coolest setup you can have today is a 2U x 5 or something rackmount. Otherwise you're stuck with a cheap ass Taiwanese/Canadian "flavored" plastic case or some seizure inducing Dragon's face.

Alienware is shite now, all the ones sold at best buy arrived non working or were returned.

Why? rackmounting stuff is only of any reasonable use if you are going to use it for what it's designed for, as an "everyday PC" it's shite.

It sure has bling factor (what Alienware PCs were made for) for an everyday PC ;) which modern fruitloop PCs don't. For modern PC cases, I dig a Vaio or two and a lot of POSIX workstations. Even Lian Li and other minimalist stuff does nothing for me.

Well, I will see if I can pick up any crappy RAQ stuff from work, build a little media server or something to make you jealous! ;)

I dig the cases with (real) screens in them, they kinda look like cylons!

It appears that L's site was immensely crippled, sad, it was fun building $100K computers :(

Not all rack stuff makes me happy, some does though! :)

go-l wasnt just a trendy PC make... those guys had some pretty cool stuff for sale there. Cant remember everything but that PURAM thing seemed cool. It was something like using ram as a hd for the OS and stuff...

I have (well, bought for the Mrs) a Dell laptop with P4 2.8, 40GB, 512MB and 64MB 6800go (and a big ass 15" screen) for probably half what you paid for that. And it doesn't look like a radioactive placenta. Oh and the batteries last about 2 1/2 hours playing Half Life 2 on med/high settings.

It's blue and boring to look at, but who the fuck gives a shit about a case when you got the goods inside?

Hehehe, my Mrs has that exact case, but in blue and with no window on the side, it is huge and weighs a ton, you need extra long IDE leads if you are going to use the top CD/DVD drive bay's.

I got over having lights and neon in my case.

Too much heat, too hard to sleep with it on.
