Xbox One, PS4, WiiU, Steam Box, and now a possible Amazon console. It's starting to feel like 1993-1994 all over again.

Only if you're in America :p Remember the "great videogame crash" was only really a US thing. Still, too many big boys isn't a good thing. The market doesn't need so many big name consoles out there. 3 is enough. After that it just becomes silly.

Amazon works on margins and dealing with other companies not only shrinks there margins but hurts their ability to control supply and product quality. After the moderate success they've had with Kindle series, I can see why they are expanding even more in the software business... They don't want to end up like Blackberry sweet hardware with no software.

I didn't mean a crash. You must have accidently read it as 83-84. I don't see one of those happening soon at least not for the reasons that caused that one. I meant what you implied, An oversaturation of platforms.

It's funny how these companies don't pay attention to history and repeat the same mistakes. Third system curse anyone?

I wonder why it is that Xbox Ones are plentiful, but PS4s are incredibly scarce. Is Sony having difficulty keeping stores in stock, or is there really that much more of a demand for the PS4 over the Xbox One?

Also, of all the Xbox One kiosks I've seen, none of them were interactive. I've played PS4 kiosks, but it seems like they break down easily, as the ones I've used recently wouldn't connect to the controller.

I'm surprised they'd buy a studio that's not exactly known for its great games.

Strider is going to be awesome

People simply want game machines, not underpowered cable boxes. That wouldn't explain why the Wii U is tanking....but Nintendo being out of touch would...

I wouldn't call the XBOX One an underpowered cable box. More like an over powered cable box. Or maybe you could say a console with a cable box thrown in. Why do you hate Microsoft so much these days, anyway? Is it because of region settings on games or the fact that the XBOX now has all this stupid TV shit in it?

Xbox one is adequate. But it will age badly for sure.

It isn't spectacular and it has a ton of overhead because of the Kinect2 and Dash.

They should dump that kinect and the stupid dash or at least give users the option.

Kinect is optional. Originally it wasn't, but after people complained loudly about it, they decided to make it optional.

really? That's good to hear. I didn't know they had changed their ideas. I'm so glad that they have done.

There are still some games that require it, but it's not a system-wide requirement (like it was originally). Also, it comes with the Xbox One, whether you want it or not.

Lets clear this up because I hate being called a Sony Fanboy, they're no saints either, they're just the ones making the best calls right now. That said my beef with Microsoft is a combination of alot of things. WIndows giving me all kinds of trouble the last few weeks is one. Windows 8 being a giant clusterfuck is another.

But on the gaming front it's simple. Microsoft has just moved too far away from being Sega's replacement for me to keep supporting them on the games front. I was with XBOX from Day one and I always saw all the awesome exclusives go to PS2, then later in the 360's life span PS3. Now I look at the Cablebox one (I can't call it by it's actual name) and while it has a few promising games it just doesn't look like gaming was the first priority when it was designed. Add to that the fact that XBOX live is required to use everything even paid services like Netflix and Hulu Plus and it's just not worth it to me anymore. NIntendo is too out of touch with most gamers too so that leaves me with one option left and that's Playstation. I'm more than happy with my PS3 and Once the library fills out I'm getting a PS4. Microsoft has a long road to redemption ahead if they ever want to win me back.

Fair enough Criticism without going batshit crazy like I did in the Sammy thread?

I haven't given up on 360 just yet, I still have Shooting love, The last Dodonpachi, Eschatos/Giga Force and Otomedeus and the last Namco Museium to pick up for it and there are a few XBLA games I want to pick up before that service is pulled out of nowhere over night. But since I got my PS3 My 360 is seeing less and less action.

You should, because that name is not nearly as clever as you think. I actually got a PS4 a few weeks ago, and it's a great machine except for the lack of games (especially since there are only two retail exclusives and they both suck, Driveclub being delayed was a real punch in the nuts), the DS4 especially is a big improvement over the DS3 except for its terrible battery life, useless touchpad and annoying light you can't turn off. Still I'll probably think about getting a Bone when the new Halo and a better Forza come out (GT6 was much better than 5, but the GT franchise has still gone down the drain big time, compare GT6's sales figures to 5's and you'll see that a lot of people seem to agree).

It's not meant to be clever, it's a better fit than the actual name. That's the other beef I have with Microsoft, their first party games SUCK. Fable is unappealing, I feel like Forza holds your hand too much and control is almost TOO tight, Halo I haven't enjoyed since the first game. Gear of War is just EEEEEEEEEEEEH, So that leaves me with what? There are other exclusives coming like Quantic Shift which seems like Microsoft's inhouse take on The Pretentious David Cage games. So there is really just nothing there That I need to play. The best creative period for Microsoft was when the first XBOX came out and they were really creative Blinx was unique, Voodoo Vince was fun, Bloodwake was interesting, Tao Feng and Kakuto Chojin could have been major players if they were allowed a growth period and at least one sequel. Once the 360 hit creative first party games got thinner and thinner as the life cycle went on so Microsoft as a first party dev is just ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

Meenwhile Sony is throwing out all sorts of shit, some hits (the Last of us) Some misses (everything David Cage shits out of his possibly autistic skull) Some that will go totally unnotice (the Puppeteer) As a first party Sony does more than Microsoft and throws out more new than Nintendo who seems to think all we want is Mario. (Look Nintendo, I'll forgive you if you ditch region locking, make a New F-Zero and put out more Kirby games)
