To me most Sony exclusives aren't anything special, even though some of them somehow get good ratings while not being very good games (Uncharted, God of War and Heavy Rain come to mind). How does Forza hold your hand any more than GT does? If you're talking about the rewind feature, you can turn it off and the game will actually reward doing so. Forza 4 is still the king of console racers due to having better online features, a better career mode and better AI than GT6. I can't see this changing any time soon if GT7 isn't a massive improvement.
GOH must not play the games enough to understand them. In no way does forza hold your hand any more than GT. Also, Gears of War is shit? I played the 2nd game last month and loved it. So much so I want to buy the 3rd.
It's all down to taste, I really REALLY wanted to like Gears of War but it just wasn't my thing. I remember how amazing it looked when it was first unveiled. And to be fair, while I find Forza way too easy, I'm all over the road in GT like, I can't control my car in GT. In Forza things just seem too tight. An idea racer in that vein, would be a happy medium between GT and Forza.
The second was good and so was the first but the third is where the problem is(and don't even get me started on the "other" one)
There were ideas in Gears of War I like, Like taking cover and the game is gorgous if a bit drab. I just remember a few sections of the game being EHHHHHH. Best shooter I played this Gen was Bulletstorm which is dirt cheap now and I highly suggest checking out. I should add the same problem I have in GT with being all over the road, I also have in Initial D Extreme Stage, I play that game it's like I'm a DUI waiting to happen. My favorite racer by far is Ridge Racer 6 and 7 which are more or less the same game.
Forza is worse compared to GT. Forza 2 (last one I played) going over asphalt which isn't part of the track slows you down... It's understandable in multiplayer, but single player? Never really like Forza at all either, even Horizon I've given it a shot and I don't like it very much. GT is more a of gentleman's game. Forza seems to be aimed at 14 year olds. Anyway Arcade racing is a lot better, racing sims get boring, very very quickly.
There's a big difference between forza 2 and 3 never mind 4! I can't speak for 5 as I don't own an XboxOne.
Well, you shouldn't be driving on asphalt that isn't part of the track. Duh. That's just your opinion, I don't get bored of racing sims...well, except GT6 which I got bored of pretty quickly. Also, you don't even give a single argument for why Forza "seems to be aimed at 14 year olds".
LOL, really? so the asphalt over the white line on the edge of the track is a instant slow down? It's fucking stupid, if you completely cut across somewhere or go over grass or sand I understand. Not asphalt. Of course it's my opinion never said it was a fact. Ever listened to Forza 2 soundtrack? TLR, I don't like Forza. Never played 3, but I've avoided it ever since 2. It just didn't seem like a racing sim to me anyway, hated the amount of penalties you get and the ban hammer was super strong on it. Why nevermind 4? Was it really bad? I barely see it around or hear about it actually.
I'd rather have that than kiddies gaining an unfair advantage by driving outside the track any day. Like I said, just stick to the damn track and it won't be a problem, it's such an inconsequential thing to complain about. If you want to go there, GT has had fucking Papa Roach and My Chemical Romance on its soundtracks, not to mention that horrific Japanese garbage on 6's.
Wouldn't it also have been inconsequential to make the texture look like grass? These little things separate good games from great games.
That makes no sense if the real track has asphalt there. Look at around the 1:30 point in this video, for example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=foXy1cNHoGc
Oh, these are based on real life tracks? Then just like in real racing, cars shouldn't slow down on asphalt just because they've driven over a white line. Asphalt is asphalt. If they're taking a bad line, they're slowing themselves down...
True, but it's also possible to use those paved areas to get a huge advantage, which is what making them slow your car down is supposed to prevent. It doesn't happen on nearly every part like that anyway, and IMO more paved runoff areas should slow your car in Forza.
Oh no, 4 is very good. Looks like an adults game and plays like one. Also, switch off the music. A quality racing game like Forza 4 shouldn't be played with a BGM anyway. It's all about the sound of the engines and tyres which this game really does deliver in that area. Honestly, give it a try. It's so much better than the crap that is Forza 2. I don't like Forza 2 myself but found 3 to be good and 4 to be very good.
That's something I love about Forza. Not only can you fine tune numerous options that affect difficulty to suit your preferences, but the game rewards you for doing so. Need the ABS? No problem, use it. Don't need the ABS? Congrats, your rewards for each race increase. Damage, rewind, ai, steering, auto/manual, brake/assist line, etc. I wish more games would let you customize the difficulty to the extent Forza does and reward you when you feel confident enough to up the challenge. That's good game design in my opinion, much better than a simple easy, medium, and hard selection.
I'd have to say the livery editor was the best part. I probably spent more time making car designs than actually racing. Haven't played 5 but I hope they beefed it up a got rid of some of the more glaring problems.
The detail in the Top Gear over views in Forza 4 were some of the most graphically impressive things I saw on the 360. Now that I think about it, Crackdown is a smidge better than Infamous. Infamous didn't get good until Infamous 2 when you got a Meele Weapon. Blood Festival the Downloadable game is fun as hell.
