American subcultures: Focus on BOUNCE

    I study and seek out odd subcultures in America, many of them never come to anything but
    many contribute to music as highly diluted beats or rhythms.

    My current research was on "Bounce music" also known as "sissy bounce"
    It started in New Orleans as a gay subculture, and the local women
    would show up to these events and show off in a "safe" atmosphere.

    This evolved into a culture of gay singers attracting women, and the men following the women.

    The twist of course is that bounce is based upon how FAST once can bounce their ass...
    People compete to show who can bounce fastest, with the inner thigh and buttocks frequently
    making a slapping noise called "clap".

    Bounce is unusual for America music as it is non-gender specific music. It has straight and gay singers
    and has evolved into "twerk" videos which are a highly sexualized version of "bounce"

    You may hear in common hip-hop "let me see it clap", which is a reference to bounce and twerk.

    It has become part of black culture in the deep south to the point that it is not seen as overtly sexual to "bounce"
    And is seen at normal parties, even as part of children's play. Akin to the the almost nude carnival dancers in Brazil
    hired for children's parties.

    So I present to you the unusual American spectacle of "bounce"

    Bounce as mainstream, non race specific. Note the juxtaposition of children and bounce.
    This video is notable as it is probably as mainstream as bounce will ever get.

    it makes no sense to me, but at least it's cheerful :D i think that if you take those vids and accelerate them 4x or more they became damn funny :D
