I'm one of those people who rips games apart looking for alpha/beta content. I've also got a massive appreciation for the hard work and dedication that goes into making games a reality. Think about all those models and what not that are lost, all that time and energy for nothing! Well, someone has to appreciate it! Over the summer a few buddies from work and I ended up tracking down one of the lead programmers for a suuuper obscure PS1 game called Auto Destruct. (Originally known as Cult Status) Dude ended up working for Sweden's NASA and was kind enough to share the entire source with us, models and all. Now, I've already read the rules here and I don't intend to share it. But I think it speaks to the fun of the pursuit, the guy and I are now friends and chat back regularly. That's another reason I wanted to sign up, I have no doubt there's some incredible stories on here. I'm forever thankful for having weird parents who encouraged me to learn about computers and video games. I see some of the stuff you guys do on here and it's equally heartwarming as it is mind blowing. Currently I'm contracted as a development support lead, I'm fortunate enough to be able to interface with games on a daily basis. I know it's not the best picture, but I figured what the hell... why not? (I don't care what you think, that lady bug blanket is REALLY comfortable and I wasn't going to move it for the picture.) Without doing much research (assuming the assumed knowledge from 10+ years ago was still valid) I took the plunge on Lehvak's XDK on ebay. Now I'm waiting for the 213w PSU that I didn't know I needed... Whoops! You live and you learn, right?
A very fun and charming game, maybe I'll do a little write up on the stuff I've got. The developer I spoke with was still a little sour so many people passed Auto Destruct by, in favour for games like Driver... However, things worked out for him in the end. Auto Destruct doesn't get enough credit for the technical achievements they managed to accomplish, shame EA didn't advertise it better.
Auto Destruct was one of the games we played 24/7 on the old days. The story, the videos, the unforgettable music !!!³ Thanks for sharing ! :'D

Back in the days Auto Destruct also was one of the games on which I have spent quite a lot of my time.
