I can't help but suspect that those books are big practical jokes and that the people making them laugh their asses while the money keeps pouring...

I like how there's even two size options, the 'Plus' of course is $100 more. Paper's expensive, yo.

    What makes you say that?

And I don't mean in a "hurr durr appel" rhetoric sense, either.

Good quality, well produced, hardback coffee table books are expensive, regardless of your opinion on the subject matter.

And sure, $300 for the bigger one is a bit silly, but ultimately it's a luxury item. If you're spending /THAT/ much on a coffee table book, you probably spent over a thousand on the coffee table it's adorning. Rich people problems.

Price aside, that's still a book filled with pictures of commercial products. That totally sounds like a practical joke about consumerism that a misanthrope joker would pull out.

I'd also suspect that the same kinda book filled with other insipid stuff is a practical joke too.

That might make sense if it was full of commercial products currently on the market, like you were paying money for a catalog to sell you things.

But the reality is that it's a "History of..." book, and you get the same from clothing designers and photographers. Typical coffee table book fodder.

I'm not saying the book isn't purely a fashion item. It totally is. But so are lots of things, and nobody is under any illusion to the contrary.

If it's a "practical joke", then what's the "punchline"? Who loses? The people that have a nice new living room tchotchkie? The business that made money off that opportunity? I don't get it. I thought I was pretty cynical, maybe I'm not cynical enough.

Just wait another decade or two, and their product photo collections will include photos of earlier product photo collection books. Insert lame Inception joke here.

Interesting but that would hardly justify the $1600 for the laptops I'm looking at It's an option atleast.

I have been really surprised with the quality of most Lenovo products for the price. The only issue I've had is that when running intensive programs, heat dissipation isn't so great, but I suppose that's a common laptop problem. The last Lenovo product I purchased was a Y500 around this time 2013, and it's still running well. My brother recently purchased one of their "flex" series and it's been pretty great as well.
