And the #1 thing I use my PS3 for now...is playing PS1 games.

The PS2 front end rubs me the wrong way as well. It gives me an uneasy feeling, similar to how uneasy I feel whenever being underwater in any Grand Theft Auto game. There is just something ominous about both of those things.

PS2 has the ability to filter the textures on PS1 games, while PS3 doesn't. Also Bleemcast ran games at a higher internal resolution (640x480), while PS2/PS3 render them at their original resolution and just upscale the resulting image.

Freaky is the PS1 boot up when the bios fails. Freezes and the sound slowly fades out after becoming all messed up, like you're trapped in a nightmare land and the portal is closing up.

Glad sony fixed their bios sounds with the PS3. The Introduction to Symphony of Destruction > all other Boot ups.

Oh by the way XBOX isn't off the hook either:

    That's still freaky.

people are spoiled by todays graphics the games in there origanial unfiltered form will always be best
and the PS3 keeps PS1 games in almost unfiltered form and thats the best way it should be
bleem had a bunch of filters to make PS1 games look better in other words tricks and fakery

If you think PS1 games look bad on a PS3... Try PS2 games on a launch PS3. It's pretty bad quality as well (compared to a PS2 playing a PS2 game), and it stresses the PS3 console.

Totally rubbish. I have a Original 60GB PS3 (Launch version) It all depend on HDTV setting and ratio you have. I played PS2 games on 60GB PS3 using standard TV which is running perfect like a PS2 console.

You can't expect Classics games to look better on HDTV unless it a HD remaster version.

I remember that. MGS3 Especially. Looked like total Ass.

Maybe thats what some people want, a new coat of paint on an Old game.

Anywho I popped DOA 1 in my PS3, Looks fantastic with filters, Soul Edge/Blade ALSO looks fantastic. So I guess the upscale quality varies from game to game.

Just my observation. If you have figured out a way to make it look as good as a PS2 you should post it up, but as far as I can tell a PS3 console has lower picture quality when playing PS2 games. (Compared to a PS2 console)

Now that you are taking about playing the ps1 on the ps3, the ps3 is suppose to be region free, then why the hell I cant play the ps1 imports like super robot wars?

It's region locked for games that are region locked, Breaker pro might work as I understand Swap magic actually worked on PS2 BC PS3s

On the PS2 menu being creepy: I don't mind the menu, and actually I like it; however it always freaks me out when I get the red screen saying to insert a PS1 / PS2 disc (ie. when it doesn't properly read the disc or something)... that one scares the shit out of me every single time!

I had red screen once by accidnet, it happens If you put the wrong CD format like Dreamcast disc in PS1 console.

You should may try it again. It has improve alot since back then. Mind you it a Software emulator.
