Shit, after reading this the 600 bucks for the highend PS3 will sound like spare change to you.

Aparently the reason behind such loco prices coming from sony is simple: they want to make the PS brand another of theirs classy expensive crap.

Dunno if bravia TVs were a selling success, but sony is set to make the Playstation some kind of niche product. The whole "circle-square-X-triangle" is now a logo.

PlayStation Portable leather pouches, $100 PSP headphones and acrylic stands? Sure. But PS wine glasses, wine openers, photo albums and $140 PlayStation crew neck shirts? Uh, no thanks. Starting June 14th, Sony is selling "PlayStation Signature" branded goods at the company's swish Ginza showroom, PlayStation Square. As the products are largely upper end (for example, a $300 Emilio Pucci PSP case or a $700 PS watch with crocodile leather strap), they seem directed at bourgeois adult consumers.

Can anyone say "fucking arrogants"? they are making a brand out of the PS, with crap generic stuff you can find in WalMart and selling it at a price premium no gamer would pay.

Where's the use for these things? what's their relation with gaming?

They are deeply related to money, I think their end goal is to create a house containing only sony affiliated and PS stuffs.

No, sony really want to be everywhere, even if its not necesarly something good for the customer. Think about all their special formats: UMD, MSD, MD, BETA, ...

they want to dominate to the point its not something good for the average customer.

The Sony Building in Ginza is just a showroom for Sony products. I'm guessing this branded gear is more for show than serious sales.

    "$140 PlayStation crew neck shirts"

I don't think so. They are outside their minds.

Didn't Sony have to close down most (if not all) of their high end stores a year or so ago since nobody gave a shit?

    Does Sony not learn anything?

Just insane. I know Concura would want to buy every little thing that they made and try to tell us "Its a damn sexy shirt? Why not spend the $140?"

Anyways, I thought Sony already had crap like this out?

I also vaguely remember sony having tried this before. I don't imagine it will work any better this time. As stated before, it is true that many large corporations dream of houses filled with their products. But it will only work if people actually buy their crap. We'll see how long this lasts, I doubt people that can afford these types of products will be walking around saying, "Check out my new Playstation watch" other than just for a novelty or joke.

Sony are so far up their own arse they can smell their own shit 24/7

You know something, I bought a pack of Sony DVDR the other day because no other brand was available at that time and do you know what? 5 out of 10 were f*cking faulty ! Today I checked the stereo set up at a PR meeting. CD was fine, amp was fine tape deck by Sony was fucked as was the MD also by, yep you guessed it! I may have mentioned that I'm in the marked from a new TV so I was speaking to the staff at a local store who first recommended a Sony. So I said to drop all the shit and tell the true to which was best. Ended up between Sharp (which I knew were best) and Panasonic. I then continued to ask why he didn't recommend Sony and do you know what he said? Yep, he said I'd be bringing it back to the store before the year was out. Sony make crap and have done for years yet everyone buys their products for what reason? I don't know but what ever it is it's invisible to me. Probably sales staff full of shite recommending their products.

Sony is all about more and more hype, how sad is it to drink wine in a Sony glass come on!!! And the picture of the wife in the Sony frame, how romantic is that... oh maybe it is used to put a picture of the PS3 you dream to have but can't afford...

    Next step Sony toilets:noooo:

This was exactly how I felt when I saw the PS3's price.

I want one, but not for 600 freaking dollars.

I don't see anyone smiling over this "signature line" shit though. That stuff is only aimed at all the casual, main stream movie stars that will be pimping this stuff on a regular basis.

I wish Sony would go back to actual gaming (instead of petty merchandising), so I can see more quality Nippon Icchi, Atlus, and Mastiff RPGs like on the PS2. :-(

I don't hate Sony, but it does make me wonder why Sony execs think somoene would pay $700 for a Playstation watch. People who spend that much money on watches like the image it brings, and I just don't understand what image Sony thinks a PS watch brings. Except stupidity.

Or maybe someone will say, "Yeah, I passed on the Tag and got the PS2 watch instead." No one has ever put those words in that order in the history of man until right now.

I actually want to buy some on the secondary market just to have them. In about 5 years they might be worth a lot of money.
