People , before you go after me in this corner. Then I must say, I am getting very tired of people who has English as their first language destroying the very basis of "an" and "a", in their nouns. Since the last few months, if not years on this forum. I have seen people raping the words like horny jacrabbits on V-pills.

People infront of a consonant that isn´t silent , there you write "a". And if it is a vowel that starts the word, then you have to put "an". In front of the word, so here are some examples of how to pronounce the consoles and emulators at the same.

an Xbox or an Xbox emulator if you are interested in that. or an Xbox360 or an Xbox 360 emulator.
An MSX or an MSX emulator.

    A PS1/PSX, PS2 , PS3.

    An Ultra 64 a Nintendo 64 an N64, an N64 emulator or A Nintendo64 emulator.
A Gamecube or a GC. an NES (here you are pronouncing every letter ) or you say a "nes" , or you are saying a nintendo 8bit or Nintendo Entertainment system. Or a famicom(puter) or if you are talking about the clones then it either famicom clones/famiclones. An SNES (just like the NES you are here pronouncing every letter) or a snes, where your mouth is saying the fours letters as a name. a snes emulator or an SNES emulator.
Or you saying a Super Nintendo Entertainment System or a Super Nintendo Emulator.

A Sega Saturn, a Sega Saturn emulator. A Dreamcast, a DC emulator . A Sega Master System or an SMS , a Sega Master System emulator or : An SMS emulator.

And this message goes out to the simple members like myself, and to the moderators. Since I am indeed tired of seeing the basis of nouns getting fucked in the arse, over the simple rule I learned way back in fifth grade.

"an" in fron´t of every single noun (and adjectives) that starts with a vowel sounding letter even if it is a consonant that starts the word, such as "an hour", "a" in front of every consonant or consonant sounding vowel and adjectives . probably every single word you can put "a" or "an" in front of in English has to obey the English grammar rules.

If you don´t understand my ramblings , then it is ok. Since my English isn´t the best to be honest, but at least I am trying to be understood in English. And this is coming from a man who has English as his secondary language. People if my father could speak English , then even he would be putting the correct "a" or "an´s" in front of his words. Even though he is dyslexic.
    Ok ?

    Peace.

Chill pill is in the post!

What I love is the fact that you can't tolerate the mangling of the English language, however you use such beautiful profanity (nouns fucked in the ass) to describe your anger!

WDK, please don't go changing - we love you just the way you are!

Parris: I am not talking about me changing, I am talking about simple things, such as "a extra component cable" and other weird nonEnglish English combinations. That makes my head turn in a direction, where a simple God damn rule I learned from a shitty school, played a huge part in me understanding that a language should be correct according to the rules of the grammar. Or something like that, it is probably one of the most easy things in the English language, about "a" and "an". Why some people just don´t give a fuck about it, is where I am getting quite tired. It is for crying out loud "AN EXTRA COMPONENT CABLE", and this incident is just one of many I have seen when it comes native English speakers. Where normally nonnative English speakers are dragged out in text and beaten to pulp, because they didn´t write the grammar correct, but now I am pointing the finger to the native English speakers about this. When it comes to "a or an", ok ?

I see where you`re coming from but I feel a lot of people who post here want to kick back and talk in a casual style, which means little regard for proper sentence structure , grammar or spelling. I didn`t think we were being marked on our writing skills now I do I sincerely apologise, it will never happen again Sir ;-)

Please do, since it is probably the only way I can learn from my own mistakes. But commas are not my friends, so I throw them around. And by the way people, there are no "uber" in über, since the word means "over" in German so they don´t sing

Deutschland, Deutschland uber alles, Uber alles in der Welt. They are singing

Deutschland, Deutschland über alles, Über alles in der Welt, and the destinctive " ¨ " over the u makes the letter change in sound. So there is no ubergraphic there is übergraphic.

    Brain-checker

It does bother me that many people don't seem to even try to capitalize, punctuate, or apply basic rules of grammar to their posts.
However, when I read I tend to automatically correct what is written as I read it so I can better understand it (as long as the post isn't an unintelligible mangle of words.)
Generally I write as I speak so my sentences may not always seem to be complete but at least I capitalize when I start and terminate when I'm done.
In my opinion improper punctuation is forgivable but spelling and capitalization is not. Firefox will even spell check as you type!
This has really gone on longer than I intended and I apologize for that but one last thing I really dislike is the use of e-acronyms. It's took about a quarter of a second for me to write "In my opinion" a moment ago, I don't see how it's any quicker or more convenient to write "IMO".
    Anyway, I'm done for now.

At least I am trying to spell the words correct(ly?) and punctate. And capitalise the word I am writing after a dot or colon: Or a question mark ! Or a proclamation sign (mark ?).

    Sincerely,

    WolverineDK.

Absolutely, I wasn't directing my post at you (or anyone in particular).
I was really just droning on about what bothers me on the internet. =)

That'll be 'It's taken....' or 'It took...' if you apply your own concerns. Seriously, guys, so long as you can actually read what is written and it makes some form of sense then why are we getting so overly concerned?

Correct your own, apologise for your own, but let's not bang on too much about other people's levels of grammar as we are all guilty of it and it does no harm at all. For what it's worth I correct almost every post I make (spot how many edits I have under my posts) as I make mistakes through rushing, through typos and even sometimes stupidity!

If this were a site dedicated to the correct usage of English then it would be a different kettle of fish, yet it's not and it comes over as churlish to bang on about others mistakes.

I'm with you, WDK, but maybe that's because I like (the English) language so much :)
It's not that I really get "angry" at specific persons, but some spelling mishaps are so flagrant as to make me cringe involuntarily. That, and I never really understand people whose posts are just a soup of words, devoid of any punctuation, as if they resulted from the use of a text-to-speech program. Come on, nobody's going to wade through that crap.

S'alright, just making a cheap point and certainly not meant to be critical of anyone in particular. It was a bit like shooting fish in a barrel though as I can guarantee in any given thread that the spelling, grammar and punctuation isn't sufficient to pass examinations.

We haven't descended to the point where evryfng iz qut az bad az txt msg goblydygook hwvr! Tnk gd!

<Towards the end of this post, Parris switched off his automatic text correction system...wondering whether anyone will notice. ;-) >

When i read that, i thought of Baldrick! :)

I'm not one to speak about my personal grammer, though if you think this forum is rather bad, then you haven't travelled the internet too thoroughly, honestly, of all the sites i visit, this is still one of the most co-herreant on the net

To be honest i couldnt care less. Theres so much other crap that people have to worry about in their life that having a moan at them not being able to spell or using "a" or "an" isnt an issue. That said if you come here and just talk in txt language you arent going to get very far.

Honestly, we aren't writing english papers when make posts. Our posts aren't being graded or corrected. So, who cares?? As long as you can understand the post, what's the big deal? It's the internet.
