That is the problem with a lot of Manga based anime today. They are so quick to jump on it while it's hot that there isn't nearly enough material for a series and then they just seem to drop it (Durarara, H.O.T.D) or go wildly off course and screw it up (Original FMA).
The Anime that I have seen I liked but I couldn't really get into it. I have seen: Akira 999 Express (I think that's what it was called) Some title that I can't remember: Basically it takes place in the future and these robots have control of the earth, and there are human armies fighting these robots. They where originally programed to help restore earth resources and saw the humans were part of the problem. Out of no where there is this guy in a white armor suit (he is really a robot too) destroying the 'evil' robots. I think his name is RaShun (I'm guessing on how to spell the name). In fact his name is the hame of the movie. RaShun the robot killer. If you need more info let me know I can get even more detailed about the movie, I really liked it. Bubblegum Crisis (The original series, not the remake. I can't stand the remake. ) Bubblegum Crash (Three part movie that continues the series and ends it right there. I'm not aware of any more Bubblegum Crisis series other then the reboot.) Well that's it for now. =hugh
Galaxy Express 999 Yeah I might get that I just watched Happy Console gamer's anime tribute and I don't quite think I'm done with DVDs just yet. Some old 80s stuff is on DVD...and hell I just cleaned up some room in my entertainment center... MAYBE laser.... But yeah he made the old stuff sound awesome Old anime I like Ghibli anything of course Hokuto No Ken Project A-ko Venus Wars Dominion Tank Police I need more old school pre Evangelion anime I'd LOVE to get a hold of some Macross
Another one that just came to mind is 'Operation Lily Cat', it's a interesting movie with a twist. =hugh
Following up on Fate Stay/Night unlimited blade works........it sucks, it's all style no substance it's in my sell off pile
Well, my favourite of all time is, obviously, Galaxy Angel. But I love Macross and Gundam, and Kannazuki no Miko and Kodomo no Jikan. I also love, LOVE, Burn Up W and Excess, and Kiss x Sis. And Agent Aika. How could anyone NOT love Agent Aika? Give me anything with space and spaceships or robots, and pretty girls with exotic hair colours, and I'm there. Or if it has fanservice and Panty-Shots Oh, and I also love Ghibli films. I'm going to the museum on August 9th, actually.
Forgot to mention another movie I really loved as a kid; should watch it again now though since I don't remember much of it: Macross: Do You Remember Love?
I really need more Macross in my collection I'd even settle for Robotech. Robotech is probably the pinnicle of Westernized anime. Not that Dragon Ball Z's dub was horrible it's just DBZ is over exposed (that said I might still get the Kai Blu Ray sets)
You do Realise only 2 of the show you listed are actually anime and it's not Dexter the Animated series it's Dexter's Lab. But yeah NOTHING you listed besides Deathnote and Dragon Ball Z is anime
I smell Spam. And Cowboy Bebop is fucking amazing, but Watanabe's earlier Macross film, Macross Plus, is what got me into Anime and Japanese stuff when I was like 16.
Yeah, Cowboy Bebop is an undesputed classic and it needs a blu ray reissue/remaster. Samurai Champloo is amazing too basically hip hop samurai cowboy bebop. I too love Macross plus there's nothing overly special about it It's about a computerized popstar but there's just something special about it that modern anime lacks. Wantanabe was only a music producer on it but Michiko To Hatchan looks like it'll be another Cowboy Bebop.
From what I've seen, I don't really like the modern anime style...I prefer the 80s and 90s styles, especially Akira is just beautiful.
The 80s and 90s were really the golden age of anime. But good things do still come out. If Modern Anime really has you jadded check Summer Wars out.
Digimon Sailor Moon Ronin Warriors IGPX Yu Yu Hakusho G Gundam Yu-Gi-Oh! (original, not that GX and 5D's crap) Death Note Neon Genesis Evangelion Beyblade (original, not the one out now) Highlander the animated series SPIDER-MAN
