worst experience i had with auspost is when they tried to shove two games into the mailbox and ended up damaging both. not talking minor scratches, the plastic cases had cracks... and did i mention one of the games was bought sealed :/
    no use complaining, they're retards
learned my lesson so now i get them shipped to my work address

back on topic, bought a hori-pad and eagerly awaiting my cart

Here's a video of my 64drive in action: 64drive Demonstration

I have a blue case from Tony Hawk on mine, and have a 6105 CIC soldered in as well because I'm OCD and had to have the ability to play Banjo Tooie.

Although, there is a bit of profanity in the video do to me cussing, I wasn't trying to, it just comes out when I do stuff like that. I know it's a bad habit, so I'm sorry to anyone who's offended.

Check the description on the video for more information and a few explanations on some things I say in the video before anyone gets on me for "downing" some other products I mentioned.

Anyways, I hope you guys enjoy the video!

Did you soldered the 6105 CIC by our own or was it already prebuild? And since you got that CIC on your card, did you noticed any problems with some of the other games or the NES emulator maybe?

I haven't noticed issues with any other games, and I haven't tested the NES emulator yet, but I'd imagine it wont effect it.

Has anyone tried Bakuretsu Muteki Bangai-O (J)?
I have a PAL console and PAL 64drive. Tried every possible option as: "Force bootemu" - every four variants; Force NTSC - yes and no; with Expansion Pak and with Jumper Pak; with/without Memory Pak and Rumble Pak; tried both on MicroSD and CF.
I tried all these options with all 3 roms available in GoodN64:
    Bakuretsu Muteki Bangai-O (J) [!]
    Bakuretsu Muteki Bangai-O (J) [f1] (PAL)
    Bakuretsu Muteki Bangai-O (J) [h1C]
In every case the result is the same: black screen.
Could anyone test this game (preferably PAL owners) and tell me what are the results?
    Thank you!

The same problem occurs with Jinsei Game 64 (J). As this game also has got a [f1] (PAL) labeled rom, I assume that it also was patched to work with PAL consoles.
Every American and Japanese NTSC game tested by far worked.

Email marshall about it, but the roms might just be dumped poorly, or patched in a method that would screw up with modern backup devices for the N64.

If I had a PAL console, I'd test it out, but I'm NTSC. I'll test it on my console later though, to see if this is an issue with PAL, or a universal 64drive issue.

Every NTSC-U game I've tried so far works perfectly, haven't bothered with any PAL games. I've mainly been addicted to Jet Force Gemini, Zelda OoT Debug Rom, with the debug options translated to English (that was the only option I could get working, using the others made it not boot up. However, I suspect this is because Zeldaedit's fixes were mainly made for PJ64, not for use on the console)

I used the [f2] version of the rom, the one in a .bin format and translated the options to English, then renamed it to .z64, but that wasn't necessary as .bin files would boot up too, I just wanted it to display the cart icon next to it :D.

Have you tried any rom hacks work? I know some of them work, just not texture hacks made specifically for PJ64. Trained roms work as well.

I believe if you load a rom up through USB and avoid the menu, you can use a gameshark to use cheats, but I'm not sure if anyone has tested this yet, I'm afraid to as it may brick my GS or 64drive >.>

Note: If anyone knows the methods used to create trained roms in the first place, such as finding the addresses and patching the rom itself, please let me know in detail. Links with information would be great too :D

I want to know because I'm interested in creating ppf patches for a majorty of the N64 clean roms, so we'll have more trained roms out there so we wont have to worry about marshall adding in a gameshark feature. Although, it'd be wicked if he did, since I'm pretty sure it is possible, it'll just be annoying since the Gameshark has so many little tricks to work.

Marshall himself even said you could write a book on all the N64 GS does, haha.

EDIT: The issue seems to be universal, neither of the roms, or any of the releases for them, work on my NTSC console. It will try to boot, but it'll be a black screen, so it's not failing like usual as you can hit the reset button and go back to the menu. If it were failing completely, it wouldn't go back to the menu.

I assume you have switched the CIC by your own right? Is there anything you have to take care of beside switching the CIC? Thanks.

    It isn't a CIC issue.

Yeah, I tried this with SF64 and Hydro Thunder, it seems the guide is only for SM64. I did exactly what they did for SM64, and it worked, other games, this method doesn't work.

Patching Gameshark codes to the ROM

That link goes into more detail about what's happening, and gives an explanation about it at the bottom.

"When you boot the game, the first thing that happens is that the entire ROM area from 0x1000 to 0x100000 is copied to RAM starting at 0x80246000 (in the US version)."

So, to use this method for other games, we're going to have to know where that area from the ROM starts in the RAM in other games. Any ideas?

There's information on the 64drive site; or, you could always just ask marshall.

You just need to specify correct save type, fixes for both are in the latest 1.05 menu

rocco, to use a 6105/7105 CIC you just bridge the jumper labeled "BANK" on the pcb. That's it

Yeah, I can confirm the fix is working for me, both games load up flawlessly.
