here's another Famiclone image for those who may be interested in using it. These are the latest in the world of Famiclones. At least they look a little classy. Yakumo
Cool. Is it really easy to make a famiclone? I figure as many bootleg NES systems as they are today, it should be really easy.
There seems to be a new Famiclone popping up every month now. Since Nintendo dropped the Famicom Japanese companies have been going mad making them. Yakumo
That's bad....:crying: How much is it going for? And if that's a picture from your phone, i'm really going to cry...
Didnt just parts of the famicom patents expire, not all of them. I thought this was still a pretty shady area to be making hardware. If they are popping up all over people must think its all expiried but I don't think thats the case.
Arrghh!! That's an ugly and cheap-looking design, same as the Familator. Incredibly cheap and featureless. Give me back the days of Famiclones when they were all yellow and orange, shaped like a UFO and had an LCD watch in the front!
That case desgin seems to be getting more common nowadays. It seems like one company will make a case and sell it to ten thousand others.
It's about 3000 yen and yes that picture is from my phone and to make you even more sad that is a shit quality picture taken on the lowest level settings because I had forgotten my SD card that day Here's a few high quality picture taken with the phone which have been reduced from 1280 x 1024 to what ever they are now. Yakumo
The Famicom-on-a-chip architecture probbaly wasn't ever in violation of any Nintendo patents anyway. That wasn't ever tested in courts, so companies that stood any chance of being sued by Nintendo (as opposed to nameless pirates in Kowloon that stood no chance of being sued) generally didn't start making their various Famiclones and Famiclone-based systems until the main patents expired. You may or may not be right about whether all the Famicom patents have expired, I don't know, but that doesn't much matter since the patent expirations were really more of a psychological thing. ...word is bondage...
Just for refrence, this is a picture from my camera phone. This is full resolution and has been touched up in photoshop as best i can (and i'm no slouch in photoshop) On topic, is there anyone here who is going for a complete set of famiclones, or are there just too many of them out there?
There are decent 3mega pix phones coming out in the uk (for some reason i always think your from the uk but i know your not). Also i think some are coming out in america too.
The amount of megapixels means shit in a camera. It's the lense that makes the image good or not. My mate has a 3.0Megapixel phone camera but looks wank compared to mine which is only 2.0 MegaPixel. Ok, if you have a 5.0 MegaPixel then yes, it will look a hell of a lot better than a 2.0 even if that has the best lense around but 3.0 to 2.0 won't really make any difference. On topic, it would be a very hard task to collect all the Famiclones out there. There must be well over 200 of them ! Yakumo
I've got over 300 of them cataloged so far, and coincidentally the famiclone section of my site gets all the hits. Been holding off on adding new ones recently though as I'm slowly updating each page (and giving credit to the sources of all the images.) http://hawanja.com/famiclones.htm
You've got a very good catalogue of famicom clones there Hawanja !! Keep it up ! By the way, you got a few on there from me like this one. http://hawanja.com/funstationiii.htm Took that picture in Singapore. Yakumo
It'd be a mammoth task to collect every piece of hardware that contained famicome cloned hardware, since there's been stacks of DVD/VCD players with "TV game" functions.
Nice site! At one point I started collecting NES & Famiclones, but once I had about 30 of them I gave up as they just kept popping up everywhere. I noticed that I have at least a few not listed on your site, so I'll take some pictures of them tomorrow and post them here for you Also, not sure if you've seen this before, but here's a list of Famiclones (lacking pics, but might be useful nevertheless): http://www.museo8bits.com/famiclones.htm
