All I can say is "Thank God I don't live in Australia" They have more dangerous and scarry shit than anywhere else in the world I think.

Wow, Yakumo... you live in a very beautiful part of Japan! I must visit...

Well, time to share a few pics of my journey to visit my girlfriend in Japan (I may have to follow Yakumo's move and marry her once and for all!). We visited Shinjuku, Akihabara (of course), Kyoto and Asakusa. All I can say is, there is no shortage of beautiful scenary, landscapes or landmarks. Absolutely amazing. Yakumo, I'm jealous you're living there ;)

A festival near my girlfriend's place. Occurs only once a year in August, with these guys coming from the south to participate:

I forget exactly where this was, but I believe near Shibuya:

Walking through a market in Asakusa:

Aha... Imperial Palace in Kyoto. This place was pristine and absolutely stunning:

    Getting dark in Kyoto:

Hidden off the 'tourist' pathway through the Golden Pavilion in Kyoto:

The 'Glass Museum' at Mt. Hakone. Yes, the 'tree' in the pond is made entirely of glass:

Gold Pavilion in Kyoto. Apparently this temple was burned down and reconstructed multiple times over the course of a few hundred years:

I have higher-res pics if someone wants to peak... If someone is thinking of visiting Japan, be prepared to spend lots of cash... (unless you're girlfriend's parents are kind enough to allow you to stay in their place during your visit :smt083 ). Whatever the case, I know I'll be heading back...

Some beautiful puictures there Chip :smt023 that place pictured above looks like it's one of the roads heading towards Kichijouji in Shinjuku or it could be Harajuku but I'm not too sure since I don't live in Tokyo. Gaijinpunch would probably know though.

Ah, yes. Kichijouji! That's exactly where it was. :smt023 There's a fantastic restaurant right around the corner with a gigantic crab hanging over its entrance.
