    Hi Everyone,

I'm a Canadian, living in China. Have been here for a few years, and my collecting (surprisingly!) has not suffered from this.

There's a good amount of rare games, accessories etc, that I can get in Hong Kong, and China (through Taobao[Chinese eBay] and some game stores with old/1990's stock).

There's actually a great amount of nerd/gamer culture here as well, big arcades with new and old games, game stores with bootleg stuff (lots of Famiclones/NOACs, and fake cartridges), and iQue (Nintendo) has a few exclusives to this region (incl the iQue 64).

I would be happy to take photos of my collection, explain how to find things, write a few posts (with translations), explain how to get a job/life here, living here, etc etc (making a megathread), but I'd first like to see if anyone's interested.

    Let me know! :)

I'm sure we'd like to see loads of the crazy knock off crap they sell over there as well as the gaming culture in general. I say go for it!

I'm currently based in HK. Used to live in the mainland. Happy to contribute if I can, swap stories, etc.

Sounds good guys! I'll start making a thread as soon as I can.

I have a ton of neat stuff, and get more quite frequently!

Have fun. We do have a few users here who are from china/hk area. I personally am not but do go to northern china every few years. I think there is a lot of misconceptions on the net about the gaming market in china.

Btw, iQue and iQue Player are pretty well known on the net (hell I even have one my self). =)
Still not sure why iQue 3DS never got any official software released in China (bar from the two games on the unit). Yet it does share the same region ID as HK & TW 3ds releases so you can play those on the device.

Yeah, I chatted to you briefly in my IQue thread a while back. :)

And yeah, the IQUE 3DS only has 2 Mario games for it. I believe that's because only IQUE/Nintendo is releasing the games, so no third parties have been involved. (So no third party games!)

Well, gotta say, I'm one of the people who bought into the misconception that there wasn't really a gaming scene in China, so I'd love to take a look at a thread like that, looking forward to it, dude.

I think I would put it in this sub-forum, as it seems to be the most appropriate place to put it.

However, if the mods think otherwise, please tell me!

    >.> Hopefully this thread could let people have some insight on gaming in China. There's some bootlegs I want to dump, but I need a Famicom dumper that will read bootleg games (glop tops).

Yakumo, do you mean make a new thread, or post in this thread? I'd like to start new, just so I can have things properly edited and no page breaks.

This is good to hear! I'll start collecting photos of things, and do some rough drafts this week!

I'm guessing "You're the one" is one of the many popular dating shows. =/ My wife watches too many of those.

Just posting this. There is a user on gaf who started a pretty decent thread on the launch of PS4 & Vita in mainland china this week.
