Anyone here authored any home brew games? I've messed around with Atari 2600 and NES games but never finished anything. I have a couple of (really awful) pc games under my belt, both availible on my site http://hawanja.com/games.htm

    I made doom levels. Ha.

  4. Same as assembler, only mine weren't really very good. This was before I had any concept of how 3d modelling worked, even the primitive stuff in Doom. Maybe I should break out Maya PE and do some UT2k3 levels...

By the by, if anyone's looking into starting any game projects (preferrably GBA) I can provide sprite art for ya.

I really would like to make my own survival horror game someday. I wouldn't even care if the graphics were only as good as like BH1 or 2 (at least, I am fond of those graphics). I just don't really know where to get started.

If people are starting some sort of project, contact me with details ^_^ Okay, so far all I can do is map for Half-life, do sprite art and draw mnga-style artwork....but hey, I love to help ^_^ Plus I'm learning Visual Basic at the moment too....but that wouldn't be much help I guess ^_^

well I've started on a gazillion of projects but never finished one... one time I did have a demo running of a DOS 3D space sim which was pretty advanced compared to my other projects, and I also made some Starwars-themed text adventure (ASCII graphics woohoo :p)
Also did a lot of sucky Duke 3D levels.
But there's hope, my Pong clone for PSX is almost finished, and I'm starting on some GBA coding so who knows I might actually finish something!

That's very interesting to know! I'm doing some stuff on GBA, I'll contact you if I need your services :)
Right now I need a font to start with :p

Me too. i did a couple of Deathmatch levels, to use at the school network =D

I don't know if i still have them, since i had no internet at that time.

I'll have to look in tons of old 1.44mb disks... :smt015

I tried to map to Half-Life too, but it's just too complex and very stressing.

I don't do any homebrew gaming etc...(as far as programming goes) but I always have ideas, etc. etc. I also do music (it tends to keep me busy and is an esacpe sometimes so it's fun! :)

So if anyone needs some music (nothing fantastical but alright!?)
then scream my way :) I need to eventually create a page with some examples.

    last project

My last project was an overhead zelda-type game called "night of the Chickens." I haven't worked on it lately though.

I'm not a developer by any means... I do digital and conventional art, webpages, etc. If I had the time, the hardware and the skills though... I'd definatley love to make a true Zelda sequel. I was never a fan of the 3D games at all. I'd love to make a good follow up to a Link To The Past using the same game engine... Ahhh... to dream.

  16. syndicate, if I ever meet you, I am going to hug you, shake your hand, and cry tears of happiness. You should be working at Nintendo and showing Miyamoto what a real Zelda sequel should be. Enough of this 3D garbage!

You're a good man, syndicate, a good man..

I made a Sokoban-style game for the Virtual Boy called "Blox" as well as some very simple demos.
I have also been working on a Silent Hill text adventure for the VB which I want to feature 3D backgrounds in the final version. I don't ahve any experience in 3D rendering, though, so if anyone here is a fan of the Silent Hill games and capable of rendering stereoscopic 4-color rooms is invited to drop contact me at krisse[at]vr32.de ;)

Made demos and trainers for NES, plan on doing some Neo Geo work and creating my own 16-bit arcade platform in time.

For years I ran a games creation group that used a series of games creation tools made by Clickteam (Klik & Play, Click and Create, The Games Factory and Multimedia Fusion). There's a whole community of games creators still out there, and doing some good stuff (albeit 2D stuff). I did way too much programming during University, so I wasn't going to program the games in my spare time.. Enabled me to concentrate on the design of them.

For a SNES obsessive such as myself, 2D was good enough. Certainly polished my pixel art skills a fair amount.

I made a hack of Mario where you play as speddy_20, and he has to fight the evil Tim's evil forces. Tim looks retarded and the levels are somewhat screwy. I made all the turtles tanks, and the goombas soldiers...I also hacked it to make bullet bills fire all the time, and made the maximum length firebars everywhere with almost impossible obstacles.

    ------- I ------------------

The "I" is a firebar, and the ----- is the ground. :-D

I called it Super Mario: Impossible mission.
