And I bail you out with the right "documents".

  3. I have developed loads of homebrew projects on all sorts of platforms that I never managed to finish because my job takes much of my time; fortunately that job has been developing commercial games for the last 10 years...

Wow, keep me posted about the latter if you get anything done :-D
And regarding the Neo, do you have any docs or something? Would be cool to look at :)

The Pong game I posted about above is pretty much finished, right now I'm coding a (primitive) 2D shmup game on Linux which is eventually to be ported to DC, PSX and perhaps GP32 if I can be arsed, right now I don't have the time with all those Uni assignments :-(

I used to make pretty bad Duke Nukem 3d levels seven/eight years ago. I got pretty good with Quake level making in Worldcraft, but the mod I planned on helping out with suddenly died. It was fun, though, and I made a fairly interesting multiplayer map :).

I can't find any real Neo tech docs, I think I've seen 1 or 2 crappy ones. I'm waiting for the day when I can buy a Neo AES. I'll be mostly doing hardware work though (hence the reason to own one.) Since there is absolutely no Neo hardware docs. The arcade project is a long shot hehe. I think the 68K is the most capable of the still made processors and looking back, all the best arcade platforms had them. (I might not use 68K though, looking at ARM etc, they look cool too but I've never used them.) To do this though, I'd need to build a custom GPU, APU and bankswitching hardware.... Currently I'm only smart enough to build the bankswitching hardware. I think it also might be cool to build my own CPU core with custom instructions, I'm way ahead of myself.

I made a mod for Age of Mythology named "Killblood"--took me a little while. Nothing very complex, just a bunch of built in scripts running, but it was pretty good. Think Archer Blood, but w/ different units.

Alas, it didn't catch on online, but it was fun.

Kyuusaku: well, if you need any help on the assembler-coding front do let me know, I'd love to assist. I have also designed a 32-bit CPU instruction set for use with my virtual machine (think MIPS meets ARM meets PIC) but right now it's just a simulator with some gfx routines bolted on...

Great, lets see where I get to. I have many many small things I'm working on right now (cleaning/painting/selling/reworking somestuff/reverse engineering a few PLD) after that stuff I want to do a table/macro assembler.

Edit: BTW, what hardware/software is your machine hosted on?

Well, it originally started as a 100% X86 assembly extended DOS program. Then, I hacked it into a DOS-extended GUI a friend of mine coded once, and even later I decided to throw in some C and port it to Linux. However, in the meantime I kept updating the spec so now the Linux version is most advanced, however I'm working on getting the GUI version up to spec so it can run my 3D starfield I coded :smt033

Oh I see, you're emulating your virtual machine ;) I'm not very good with software so I'm planning on just jumping to designing a digital hardware core. Very capable and cheap logic device kits are available now so I think that's where my project will start. I have too much to learn about video hardware so maybe a software start may be more reasonable. (Maybe I should start by interfacing a NES PPU or something I'm semi-confident in) I dunno! Might just be easiest to integrate my CPU etc into mame and make my own frankenstein's monster of a platform.

I am currently trying to make a Playstation or PS2 version of my Nokia mobile phone mastercode calculators named "DCT3Calc" and "DCT4Calc" (world's first, DCT4Calc available since 2003 and regularely updated)

When it's finished, you will be able to remove the simlocks of your Nokia phone using your Playstation.

I think, it will be available as ISO-Image (for chipped machines or debuggers) and as a sold addon cart (for non-chipped machines except SCPH-900x and SCPH-10X) - in case I do it for the original Playstation and not PS2.

Bug me if you need help with the playstation version, certainly sounds interesting what you're doing. Are you also going to wire a cable to the system then or is that not necessary?

good one... i was doing some additional ps1 coding a few years ago, and actually did some hobby work...

i made a lame demo for ps1 featuring ugly colors and a ripped axel_f.mod music file.. if you dare to waste a cd-r, get the demo at
    http://www.scene.org/file.php?file=/parties/2000/mekkasymposium00/psxdemo/farbrausch.zip

and i also started a ps1 pong "clone" featuring psychedelic rotating backgrounds which almost make you puke. (and surely dont make playing it easier). i called it "disco pong" since it has some sort of disco music. sadly it has no cool opponent. the computer player always centers at the ball position, which is as minimalistic elegant as unbeatable. i could probably finish it and add support for a 2nd controller. and maybe the light gun, so you could shoot the pong-ball.

    uhm yes.

We made conversions of ChuChuRocket! and Gun Pey as well as others for the good ol' Atari ST/Falcon computers. Some kids were supposed to make an Amiga ChuChu from ours, but it never happened.

Been trying to port my typing games from pc over to xbox but as of late my family and job seem to take up all my time. One day I will get it done.

Hahaha, now I don't feel like a total dumbass having made a Pong clone for PSX as well... but mine had a starfield background and my head as the ball. BTW, what did you use for sound? I never really got the SPU to play anything.
