Anybody got a System11/Soul Edge? Has anybody got a Soul Edge board? I ask 'cos I have a Soul Edge with too-bright graphics and dead controls; several capacitors have snapped off the upper surface of the board, so I thought I'd replace them before getting too extreme with the repair attempts. Could someone with this board (or another System11 board like Tekken, if the top boards are the same) please tell me the values and ratings of capacitors C59, C60, C61 and C67 on the top board? If it helps it's silkscreened GP-11 1-655-543-11 in the middle and COH-100 on the left side. Thanks in advance Stone
Stuck my new level-shifting adaptor on it and the graphics look perfect. Sound consists of some evil (and LOUD!) hissing noises and the controls still don't work, so I'm guessing those caps really do need replacing Nobody got one they could take a quick look at for me? Thanks in advance
Well upon inspection of the PCB I've found that the daughterboard your talking about is a GP-13 1-660-276-11 COH-110 and I can't find those Cxx numbers your talking about. Perhaps the numbers are under the capacitators? I've taken pictures of the top board and I'll post it later tonight with the values written out.
Ack, that's a different board to mine The large chips are in different places, and though the RAM/ROM area is much the same it's definitely a different board. [edit: and it says Sony on the silkscreen, not Namco] That said, would it be possible for you to take a closeup shot of that small chip to the bottom-left (in column K) for me? That small trimpot is on my board next to a chip that looks much the same as that one; if the hardware is even broadly similar I should be able to get close enough with the values. Between the 13/100/6V cap and the 5K/47/16V cap, bounded by the edge of the board and those large SOIC chips would be extremely helpful. Thanks again! Stone
How would I tell? It doesn't say anything unexpected on the title screen, just SOUL EDGE (tm) Push 1P/2P Start NAMCO (R) (c)1995 NAMCO LTD., All Rights Reserved I guess it'd say VerB on the title screen or something otherwise, right? Bear in mind I can't get into any of the menus or out of the demo mode, as none of the controls work... Stone
If it just says Soul Edge then its a Ver A. Only B & C say Ver B or Ver C. --edit-- The reason the version number matters is I believe C added in more characters that you can select that were not selectable in ver A.
If you have a large inbox I could just mail you the pictues I took of the board. I think mine is a revision C by the way, coverd under the flash on the above pictures is the letter A-H where they have made a mark on the C with a filt pen or something.
