Did your health improve? I've been reading on how to bring your
immune up and this was mentioned to me.

I've been sick for three weeks now, and I'm sort of desperate to try anything.

    What did you eat before?
How much did you exercise before?
How much sleep do you get?
How much stress is in your life?

While I know there are benefits of some of these over-the-top diets (or let's just say high-maintenance diets) I have boosted the fuck out of my immune system w/o having to bother. For me, it was daily exercise. Doesn't have to be a lot. These days I only get food poisoning or STDs.

Not a lot, maybe 5-7 times a day small meals to spread it out. Keto diet. I've lost 35lb so far.
Ran 3-4 times a week for an hour
I tend to sleep very long, 8-12 hours
    Not much stress at all.

I've been told by a few doctors to keep eating soups while they're piping hot, with broccoli, potatoes, carrots, brussel sprouts and pasta. Maybe add a bit of fruit for desert apples, and bananas are usually in my list.
Increase your fiber in your diet as well. While soups work it may not be needed to increase your fiber, but it depends.

    Hope you feel better soon.

Sounds like you're doing fine, although the loss of 35lbs too quickly can probably break down your immunities as it's a shock to the system. I wouldn't worry about it too much for now. If you get a cold more than most of the time for like 4 months (and don't have a kid around you) then maybe you should see a physician. If you have health insurance, just go get blood work done. They will tell you any deficiencies you have. Then go from there.

Just stay fortified with vitamins. We're leaving the flu season, but entering hay fever season. I've never had much of a problem with either. Maybe a daily dose of Airborne to be safe.

I make an effort to not go overboard with sanitation that everyone seems to think is a great idea. I mean to say that I clean my counters, clean my utensils and so on but anti-bacterial soaps are out of the question as are "hand sanitizers". They test those things by doping pre-washed hands, not with the hands you walk into the grocery store with!

You commit genocide enough times and only the fittest bacteria live and thrive. Kill off what keeps balance and you cause problems.

Hand sanitizers are good when you're out on the go and want to eat something. Oshibori here are a god send if you've been handling money, and need to eat something w/ your hands.

I'm with APE. The human body wasn't designed to be as frail as people think. When my parents were small, they didn't live in a bubble. They ran around outside, played with dirt, stones, went fishing, and did all kinds of activities. Staying clean was probably something they never thought about until it was time to clean up for a meal or something. So naturally, their immune system is excellent. They rarely get sick, if at all, for anything.

In contrast, I get sick for loads of stuff. I blame overboard sanitation for that. But I do understand some people just have immune issues that can't be ignored.

Ugh, horrible stuff! My friend sent me some once. I was feeling a bit under the weather, so took it. Next day, I had the worst flu I've ever had!

My Dad used to be an insurance salesman. He was out in all weather. He never got ill - swore it was being out in the fresh air that did him good. We're not supposed to be huddled inside with central heating and air conditioning.

Bad luck -- it's only vitamins... not medication.

You have no idea how many times I told people in my study about that. No wonder why that girl was ALWAYS sick.

There needs to be a mixture of good and bad bacteria in your body for a perfect balance...

Studies have shown time and time again that the best way to get vitamins and minerals is through eating food that contains them naturally. Most supplements give you something extracted from a plant/animal/rock and your body just doesn't handle it nearly as efficiently. Obviously if your doctor says you need to take X you should take X but some vitamins are fat soluble and others are water soluble. Translation: if you take too much Vitamin C (which is what Airborne basically is) you'll just piss out what your body doesn't need.

If you take too much Vitamin A or Vitamin D you can cause some serious problems. Usually the people who will have problems with either or will be people who have a metabolic disorder and don't already know it. Playing with this stuff isn't for amateurs and it is something to take seriously even if 99% of the population has absolutely no problem popping an entire bottle of Flintstone's chewables daily.

That said, Airborne is a waste of money. Your body will use what it needs and shuffle the rest to your kidneys. It was created by a teacher with absolutely no knowledge of how the immune system works and it isn't magically bolstered by taking an entire crate of orange's worth of vitamin C for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Makes for one hell of a placebo though. The downside is that taking it as directed can easily cause kidney stones if your body is so inclined to do so already.

Oh and the manufacturer of Airborne has been nailed with class action lawsuits that they lost.

tl;dr: don't waste your money on snake oil.

I generally don't seem to get ill.

I don't do anything special, some people just seem more sickly than others.

Also doesn't the amount of white blood cells count towards your immune system? - If I remember correctly from Health class in high school lol.

I already heard of a diet like that, never knew it was called Keto.

My GF once tried that but she (and I) never founded out which food could be inserted to keep this diet healthy.

A high white blood cell count (I couldn't tell you the figures for "low", "normal", or "high" off hand) generally indicates an infection but it can also result from other causes such as strenuous exercise and epinephrine administration. Obviously the latter two are more easily distinguished than infection.
