I don't like music theory... I like music history and took a elective as a bird course (Art of Listening) . As in I like learning about the composers and their lives and music. I'm not a fan of the theory part of music. Just actual music. Is it truly? The one thing I like in my RPGs is a great story. Even with great gameplay there has to be good story or I usually tire of the game quite fast. Was the story any good. It seems Dragon Ball Z like... Is it? Because I used to be a fan of that show.
Well, Eternal Sonata does use Chopin's ACTUAL LIFE as kind of a back drop/timeline for the events in the game... so... you may actually like it. In so far as Blue Dragon's story: I really loved it. A lot of people speak ill of it because they can't wrap their brains around the idea of kids being kids (I don't know what the hell people expected from Shu, Kluke, and Jiro, they pretty much acted like normal kids, as opposed to the philosophical ethics obsessed 13-year old lunatics they throw in games now (see Eternal Sonata)), but truth be told I really enjoyed the story. The first disc was very straight forward, yes, but it had an AWESOME ending. Disc 2 kinda works on the ethical ideas presented in the game (of which there are two, both of which are presented in an "in your face" kind of fashion in the form of two "books" you get read bits and pieces of as the game progresses), and disc 3 is just... phenomenal. Like, edge-of-your-seat-holy-shit-I-can't-believe-what-I'm-seeing awesome. The first disc was just really really good, the second disc was really good with some awesome moments in it, and the third disc was just mind blowing. My only complaint about Blue Dragon is that its very easy for you to get over-powered and make the end of the game a cakewalk. If you do the majority of extra stuff before the final dungeon, then the final boss(es) will present you no trouble at all. Kind of annoying, but if you want the challenge then just play straight through the game and ignore the extra stuff. Also, ignore the Generalist class (if you want a challenge anyways). So yes, Blue Dragon had awesome gameplay (best turn-based combat I've ever experienced, and the "initiating combat" system is just great), had a really good story (that people bitch about because of the kids not having adult-like character developement and because disc 1 is very straight forward), and was a beautiful game. Awesome game, and I totally cannot wait for Lost Odyssey! :icon_bigg
