Apparantly SNK's HD Wondergame KOF XII is being released unfinished. There's no Boss No Ending (beat everyone in arcade mode and ti takes you back to the title screen) No Story I heard mumblings from beta test people that the frames of Animation are incomplete. There're only 20 characters and No teams. If Arcsys Could finish BlazBlue Why couldn't SNK Finish KOF XII? Combine this with the reputation they have for Delaying games FOREVER in the US and the US Versions of Their collections being inferior (KOF Orochi Japan VS US Orochi which had load times and missing content) While I don't mind Metal Slug 7 being on DS it does seem Odd they chose a relitivly simple platform. And when was the last Originial IP they relased? You know besides that Witch molestation sim. All they release is KOF, Samuari Shodown and Metal Slug and when they aren't doing that Compliations of varying degress of Quality. Maybe they'd be better off selling their IPs to DIMPs and Capcom. (Dimps is comprised of Staff that more or less came up with the games SNK is Spamming anyone) and ceasing to exist again.
SNK should have killed off MS after the Third one, after that they have all been shit... so to answer your question ...no they don't care,it's just the same old crap........ revamped poorly:banghead:
I've never really been a fan of SNK fighters. But that sucks. I can understand the no boss and stuff. I don't care about that - i mean the point of fighters is the mutiplayer - oh wait. SNK Fans actually care about a story line for some reason. That's why they don't mind broken fighting games. Regardless the missing animation frames is inexcusable.
I love MSLUG 4, closer to the original than 3 I think. Anyway, if I had a few IP's that sold well even though I did nothing but stick them on compilation disks and add "3D" to the title then I would flog them as much as I could too. No effort and lots of profit. Just look at Sonic. It's a corrupt world full of money making corporations, I don't get why people think that the games industry stands above all of this. SNK started as a passionate hard core games company who put quality above profit..what happened? They collapsed and Playmore picked up the pieces. Spending thousands on a team of people to devote A LOT of time to produce many complex sprites and frames of animation just doesn't happen anymore there is no money in it. We can cry and complain all we want but those days of 2D glory are gone, it takes a few months in an easy to use 3D package to produce a soccer game worth millions why would anyone these days want to do anything else?
Well a game Like Blaz Blue and a Boy and his Blob would beg to differ. And almost all the DS Games are still 2d, So there's still money in 2d. I don't care if KOF goes 3d full time or if it stays 2d I just care that they finish the game before they release it. SNK is charging $60 (or a few thou for arcade owner) for a game that's only 1/3rd done. On the same tolken when They went to the Atomiswave they halfassed KOF Neowave. But even Neowave has it's moments of greatness (it introduced new fighting systems) The Main difference between Blaz Blue and KOF XII, when I see KOF XII videos I see a game with nice sprites and animation but no soul. If you take out the pretty sprites KOF XII is just some halfassed 2d fighter. BlazBlue however you can tell Arksys really put time into make the game as good and balanced as possible. Even more amazing is they did this game in half the time SNK did KOF XII and the game looks even better than Kof XII. Like you're playing an anime by Gonzo. Just don't try saying that to SNK Fans, they'll defend ANYTHING SNK does no matter how boneheaded it is. I hope SNK goes underagain I really do. Yet I still blindly buy their compliations I REFUSE however to buy KOF XII full price and on Day 1.
IMO today's SNK is a lot like today's Sega: both companies release mainly games based on a few popular IPs, and both companies suffered immensely due to events on the early 2000s which led to this. Haven't played MS7, but I thought MS6 was OK (nowhere near the level of the first three, four if you count X, games), possibly because it had the original team. I'm pretty sure that was NeoGeo Battle Coliseum, which was pretty awesome in my opinion. As a side note, I wish SNKP would release KOF'98 UM on XBLA, but I guess PS2 releases are much cheaper these days..
KOF98 UM was promised for XBLA but it is just another broken SNK Promise. I have the Japanese KOF98 UM and it's not that great It's nothing more than an SNK cash in
I wasn't really expecting anything else from UM, KOF'98 is just my favorite of the series, would like to play the extra characters. I never heard about an XBLA release being promised, I guess SNK just doesn't wanna put the extra effort in to put Live play and whatever in if they aren't gonna release it after all :-(
KOF Orochi has 98 but it's severely nerfed. UM has the regular 98 too, It's worth it I guess. But I just can't justify supporting SNK now with the rush Job they did on KOF XII. You should see everyone attacking me at SNK-Capcom.com for even attempting to explain why XII is half assed (and going to suck) Neo-Geo.com too (though to a lesser degree)
I'm still kinda looking forward to XII, but it's not looking that good at the moment, especially after SFIV turned out so great - SNK has little chance of matching it. Maybe they should've just made an HD version of 98, at least the fans would like it
Maybe you should read what you write before hitting the send button... You've already stated it's a test version, a quick look shows that game isn't out until April, so that does give them a month to finish off the game, maybe they are still working on the endings and storyline. Oh nos. There is nothing to stop you from buying the games on import... Well of course SNK don't release games outside of America...oh wait they do.. well a quick look at the SNK Japan website would should the RPG Kimono Yusho, there is Sukibito coming out later this year, there is also Days of Memories although that is a dating game featuring the SNK gals... they do make a lot of mobile phone games in Japan too and you would see more original IP there...
Will those ever see the light of day over seas? No. Yes I do import the game but I'm such a crazed collector I turn around and buy the US Versions too Which Is how I noticed SNK was screwing us over. I googled Kimono Yusho and nothing game up. Phone games is one thing but Actual console and arcade games NO Samurai Shodown KOF and Metal Slug? ANd they did say KOF XII won't have a story. But no Boss...that's a bit odd no?
