Hello, I was looking at this piece of hardware mainly to convert SCART RGB-S signal to HDMI and I stumbled upon the LKV391:
    http://www.lenkeng.net/Html/Product/all-video-to-hdmi-converter.html

The unit looks quite nice with lots of inputs (I like the RS-232 connectivity). It could greatly simplify my gaming setup and solve the problem where there are so few new TVs with VGA or even component connectivity anymore.

Well the questions I ask myself are: Is the picture quality good? How does the unit performs? Is there a noticeable input latency?

It seems like quite an obscure device and I wasn't able to find any reviews for it. Lenkeng, the company, seem to really focus on A/V signal converters so I would be tempted to think they provide good quality devices.

Is there anyone out here who ever bought one of these?
    Thanks.

That's why I am a bit concerned here. I don't want to throw my money away if the device does a similar job to what a GBS-8220 and a cheap VGA to HDMI converter would acheive.

Because its worth finding out about something before you spend £300+ on it.

How about you stop being an asshole and not post.

My thoughts exactly, nothing wrong with asking about the experiences of others, especially when there is this much money involved

The guy is a joke, he changed his name after that whole "I have RE1.5 to sell" and then "sells it" to his other account so people dont realize its him.. He then just posts nonsense and generally is an asshole. I really dont see why he stays around.

    That Amazon link says £357.
XRGB framemeister is more like £270.

Blasted yank keyboards having no pounds key.

Well, let's stay on topic. As Bad_Ad84 said, wouldn't a XRGB-mini suits your needs well? Given you're in Qc, you shouldn't care too much about scart anyway? The mini can take RGB from scart or converted from VGA IIRC.

Yeah VGA in either direction needs conversion. No native input, or output for that matter.

Fudoh, the maestro of gaming upscale reviews, has a section on that one, listed under "Auvisio 9 IN 1 HD Upscaler." Bascially, if you can find it for $150 maybe it's somewhat worth it. I don't think so. For one, it does NOT do 4:3 on VGA input, only stretch. Worst of all, despite the SCART input the unit cannot take 240p signals! Dealbreaker.

I would steer CLEAR of this one!

I found them for about $280USD shipped to Canada on taobao.com. At that price it's a little bit cheaper than a Framemeister.

Of course the Framemeister is THE best solution for SCART to "whatever I can connect on my NTSC TV". It's just that the LKV391 seemed like a good tradeoff to input multiple legacy A/V signals to a new generation TV. I'm in the look for a new TV and most of them don't have VGA input and only one component input. If the image quality of the LKV391 would have been good, I would have bought it and then the connectivity issue of a new TV would be out of the question.
(Toujours le fun de voir un autre chummey dans les parages!)

Yes I saw that too after posting here. I must say that I thought the same way as you. I'll stay away from it.

It's to be taken in consideration. I'm becoming the owner of a new house in less than 2 weeks so I must say that there's gonna be a lot of spending to be made. The wife won't be too happy to see that thing come in the mail... And she'll know what it is and how much it cost as she works as a technician for a TV broadcaster.

man, that's unlucky. My wife hasn't got a clue what anything is. Still, it must be cool to have a wife that's in to tech.

I must admit it have it's advantages. Being an electrical engineer, we can talk of what we do in our respective jobs and understand most of it. She helps me a little in my personal projects and she understand why I can spend a lot of time on these. We also get to have broadcast grade cables(coax, A/V, CAT6) for all our needs for almost nothing, sometimes even free!

She's also a gamer so we do play video games together but she's not into violent games at all.

The problem is that because she works in television production, she's really, really, REALLY picky about image and sound quality. That's why when the time comes to buy new electronic stuff, it's always a complicated process. Also I cannot buy electronic stuff without her noticing it.

Still I consider myself very lucky to be with her.

I'd say. My wife can't understand the difference between a DVD and BluRay She thinks the pictures taken with my DLSR are the same as ones taken on a phone. It goes on and on. You are indeed lucky.

To be clear though, the Lenkeng SCART to HDMI, VGA to HDMI converters that cost 60-70 dollars work pretty good for the price. If that's all you want them to do, but they do not preserve 4/3 aspect.

That's a shame that most converters will not preserve 4:3. If they output in 480p it could be manageable as most TVs are able to resize the on screen picture when handling 480p feed. My old toshiba LCD does it, but not on 720p/1080i.
