Hey guys, so I found this http://www.reddit.com/r/gamecollecting/comments/27erd1/im_stupid_and_deleted_the_post_here_is_the/ post on reddits gamecollectors forum about this guy who found this strange game called Project Genesis One. Has anyone ever heard of it? I cant find ANYTHING about the game or its developers, or anything mentioned on the case for that matter, online. Here are the pictures he posted The last picture of the disc is pretty interesting. 'Unpublished confidential work'. Anyone have any thoughts? Also, this is my first post but Ive lurked for some time now. Love this place!
Im already in discussion with the guy. Most likely a pitch project. Still no guarantee of any games, likely a way to try to get more money.
4 years of development and it never saw the light of day. It's copyrighted up to 2006.. that was pretty much the last significant year for Xbox. It probably wasn't polished enough by the end of the Xbox's lifespan so it got shelved. Microsoft has it's name all over the disc so there's a chance it could just be an in-house experiment too. Maybe the game's own "Fidelity Kastrow" banned it from circulation.
Like i said, it means nothing. It's a mockup box of what is likely a pitch project meant to get them money
It looks fake to me. Nothing is placed correctly. The disc looks like a fake too, the middle doesn't have the holographic xbox icons.
Thats because it isn't a complete game. I feel as though I am talking to myself here hah. No one seems to want to read the original thread or this.
From the Reddit link: "I put it in a DVD player to check to see if it was a DVD. It's not. It came up as a data disc and could not be read. So maybe there is some hope that it is actually a game." "Update. I had a friend who had an xbox that he let me use since I won't be to mine until Sunday. The disc would not read in the xbox. It came up as unreadable" Is it possible this game might only run on a debug kit? What happens if you put a debug only xbox disc into a retail unit? (does something appear on-screen?) The guy says he's more than happy to dump the iso so I guess it's down to Borman or anyone with a debug kit (if that's the problem) to step in and see.
Putting it into a computer DVD drive would probably be the fastest way to know what it is. Chances it's just a disk of art/text documents or whatever to show as a pitch. (like Borman said) Edit: Something like this: http://www.assemblergames.com/forum...-information-on-this-unreleased-Gamecube-game
Getting ISOs from Xbox games is a bitch to do for people like this guy and me, so I wouldn't expect a download any time soon.
No, getting Xbox games dumped is easy when its on a dvdr. Sadly it looks like this disk only has the cover on it.
Surely it would boot (assuming it contains bootable code) in a modded XBOX? Then you could just rip it using DVD2XBOX and FTP it to a PC.
Like I just said, it only has the cover of the game on it. No code, no anything. And it wouldnt necessarily boot on a modded Xbox, not that the files wouldnt be there. Be careful with DVD2Xbox and such, they typically patch the XBE of games. The best way to make a copy of DVD-r betas is just to pop it into a PC, easy as pie, no need for special tricks or patches or any of that.
I read the whole thread, the was no clear consensus about anything. Borman has some stuff to say, but it sounds like supposition "Most likely a pitch project", "Sadly it looks like this disk only has the cover on it.", he talks about another thread but doesn't link to it. I was simply replying to DeChief's claim that; "Getting ISOs from Xbox games is a bitch to do".
Most likely a pitch project being an assumption based on the evidence presented. The second half goes hand in hand with the fact that I said I was already in contact with the guy.
fAlso looks alott like a religous based game of some type. and http://www.linkedin.com/in/rikkgalvan found at http://www.digitpress.com/forum/sho...-game-find-from-Reddit-has-anyone-heard-of-it is that you somewhere drphilwasright?
