Anyone ever try to run a web server over dsl?

    I think I understand now. So why do you need the webserver at all? If someone's going to sort your files (based on filename and whatnot) get a cheap linux box, give someone a shell account, open SSH -- viola. When they're done, make torrents. The rest is history.

    The webserver part is for a https site and message board so people can coordinate.

    If that's it, then you shouldn't have any problems running a web server over your cheesy DSL line. If your provider blocks the ports, just have them use another port, and forward that one to port 80 via your router or something.
