I went shopping yesterday and noticed that Gears of War 2 for the 360 and Resistance 2 for the PS3 are out. I'm probably going to wait for the PC version for Gears of War 2, and I'm really tempted to get a PS3 now since I think there's enough good exclusives coming out for it to justify getting one. I've been out of the loop on console gaming quite bad the last few months. I didn't even know Gears 2 and Resistance 2 were already out. Any other cool games coming out before the year is out?
Just finished Resistance 2.... Ten minutes ago. Very nice, everything way upgraded over Resistance 1. Better lighting, textures, mo cap. Online is way way improved. I hate online gaming but even I'd play this, clocking up that XP. Decent ending that sets you up for Resistance 3 in 2010. Very nice. I'm on the way to the shops to buy Gears 2. Gears 2 is just cooler than Resistance 2 but Resistance 2 has a more robust online, so you may be playing it longer. But in Gears 2 you can stick a chainsaw up a guys ass and pull it upwards slicing him in half. That's really important to me. I'm not kidding, you literally can. They call it Chainsoddomy. Gears 2 is great, everything bigger and badder. CliffyB has said no Gears 2 for PC ever. You may or may not want to believe him. Other great games are Little Big Planet, Fable 2, Fallout 3, and a bunch of others. Good time of year this. Playing them all before it's 32 degrees outside.
Got Gears 2 today. Seems quite good so far, but just like the first one really Resistance 2 doesn't come out over here for a while yet but so far the reviews say it's bland on singleplayer and quite good on multiplayer.
Bet some of you guys are well pissed at Arstechnica http://arstechnica.com/news.ars/pos...ves-ps3-devs-a-blueprint-for-online-play.html Freaking awesome online. Co-op missions, XP, just excellent. Off to the shops I go. Chainsaws. yeah yeah. Chainsaws.
I heard that the hoards of enemies in GoW2 are always far away. What a shame, I was already looking forward to some mass fights supported by chainsaw-power.
Hmm. I already have Fable 2 and Fallout 3. I went to Gamespot and found out that Sacred 2 just came out today, that was a game that I've been wanting. Demigod for PC looks interesting, too.
well i have finished gears of war 2 and i must say i am impressed, i wasn't a big fan of the first one but gears of war 2 makes up for that, the story was well told in my opinion and the multilayer is great, its a must have in my books.
Yes, they are particles (a new feature in UE3). You can change particles for 3d models. This "mini" locust hasn't IA, and do nothing except run.
Hopefully you don't plan on playing GoW2 online then. If you buy it used, you miss out on 1/3 of the mutiplayer maps. GoW2 is a good little game. Somewhat short, but a good ride. And multiplayer is a blast, especially Horde mode. -hl718
I just finished Fallout 3, now i'm downloading the L4D demo. My brother is in the states right now so I asked him to buy me either Red Alert 3 or CoD:WaW. And then, i think i'll be getting GTA IV for PC on December.
Gears of War 1 on PC wasn't that much better then the 360 one. Just get it on 360. There is Vista copyrights at the end of the credits so it might go to PC but I'd so go for 360. I guess your TV isn't good for that though so I dunno. Gears 2 has some funky stuff in single player but it was really fun, multiplayer and horde is badass as fuck.
I have the 360 version of the first one, but my TV isn't an HDTV. It would look better on my 22 inch monitor, IMO. And of course the FPS rates would be better. Not trying to sound like an elitist, but I'm getting the second one for PC. I didn't spend almost $1500 something on my PC and monitor for nothing!
Gears of War 2 comes with 15 multiplayer maps. 10 are supplied on the disc. 5 are supplied as an Xbox Live download token. Microsoft and Epic have both said they will not be selling the 5 downloadable maps separately. As a result, if you buy the game used, you only get access to 10 of the maps. Think you're ever going to get a lot of play online if you can't play on 1/3 of the maps in standard rotation? I don't think it's a coincidence that Mark Rein has spoken out more than once against used game sales. EA and Harmonix did a similar thing with Rock Band 2. Good luck waiting for that. If you want to play on your monitor, just use a VGA cable. -hl718
VGA cable...the framerates and Live are great on the 360. Seriously, your going to be wanting to use the gamepad anyways. I played the PC one a lot and it's better on the 360, the only thing the PC has is a little better framerate, new content and a ton of glitches that make it crash a lot. Epic didn't port it so I dunno, but it's really better on the 360. I spent a bunch of money on a PC as well. It really wasn't necessary. =(
Epic has said they aren't going to release Gears 2 on PC ever. They said they were focused on making a great 360 game. They might not have a PC port done. And the first on PC performed poorly so it's not like there is a big reason for them to try again.
I'd buy Gears 2 for the horde mode alone. But it looks like Left 4 Dead is the next game I'm going to get. The demo is amazingly fun and totally awesome. The 4 player co-op is going to be insane!
Epic didn't port Gears to the PC themselves so who knows, but I see no point to stick it on PC. The stupid PC fanbase just dismissed the original as a stupid console game so fuck them. No good games for you! I sort of like it (Tried PC and 360, great on both but Live wins) but it has almost no atmosphere at all, I felt. It's like a zombie coop mod for HL2 or something. I'd like it but not at full price.
