I know this is going quite cheap on PS3, does anyone have both versions to compare? I presume without looking 360 version is live compatible?
The 360 version is more smooth, doesnt have the AA problems found in the PS3 version. Offcource online play! Some new SFX. Both versions have 1080p support. So if you have both platforms you should buy the 360 version. Or if you want it cheaper and don't care about onlineplay, jaggies and no achievements.
I have some people on my xbl friends list who play it, and they say they love it. It's also only $40 at circuit city.
The Xbox 360 version is based off the latest arcade code. The PS3 version is based off the prior revision. -hl718
Yeah, I was going to say, it's 40$ at CC. I think I might get it when it's even cheaper though, I've never been good at VF, I get too frusterated.
Can anyone here that's familiar w/ the series (that is, is at least an intermediate versus player on the last couple of revs) comment on how shitty the online play is? Since the US release is (or at least should be) live-central, I'm wondering if they watered down the versus mode as well.
Amazingly most of the online matches I've played theres pretty much no lag. It's not like doa where it happens every minute. While the online experience is smooth, I must say I'm disappointed how bare bones the interference is. It's pretty much find a match or create one, have the fight then repeat. Theres no lobby system at all, forcing you to go through the menus each time you want fight again.
It would take not one, but two intermediate (preferably high) level players to point out the "bad" stuff. And, it's not really lag you're looking for per se.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think he's referring to the way the game measures movement in frames. Basically an expert player can notice if the online portion is delayed by 3 or 5 frames. For an expert player this can be disastrous as it throws there timing off.
Ahhhh, I see. Yeah, that would suck...DOA was pretty unplayable online, I don't even understand why, so if this doesnt have lag every second, at least it's an improvement.
sorry to ask OE, but do your kids think their dad is odd for being such an avid fan of video games? It must be awesome to have u as a parent
What sayin999 said...except that a good player could tell the difference of 1 frame on specific moves. Last I remember, any throw takes 8 frames to execute. That means any move that takes 8 frames to recover from guarantees a throw (unless of course it's escaped). Now, say a move w/ a 7 frame recovery takes an extra frame due to lag (which is very likely)... the whole game changes. Terrible practice for "the real thing" although I understand that's not much of an option in the west.
