Hi. I dont know about any of you but my best friend and I are avid CSS players. Up until recently we were just pubbers who messed around but lately I have been looking into actually starting up a clan with a pub and all that great crap.

I was wondering if anyone here would be interested in going in on it with us. The only things stopping me are cost and website stuff. We wouldnt be playing in CAL and all that crap. It would be a fun server for anyone to play at and anyone who wants onboard will get free admin for life and all that jazz. Its been a dream of mine since I started playing 4 years ago or so but I could never make it happen.

I dont know much about websites or setting one up. Anyone know what kinda cost I would be looking at for a basic site with forums and the basics?

Let me know if any of you interested and I will see about moving forward with it. Most server prices are monthly but I think I found a good one thats only 85 or so a year. Im open to all opinions and options. Please let me know and thanks.

BTW if a mod dosent like this please feel free to delete it.

I played CS:S for a time, but the lame headshot AWP'ers make it almost unplayable on public servers. I also got sick of the amount of players that sprayed porn on the walls, especially the really sick stuff.

The Counterstrike community has to be one of the worst in gaming, IMO.

Hey Micjohvan, I know starting your own clan may seem like a great idea but from my experiance it's not always the best way to go. There are a lot of clans out there that have good public servers, like minded people, a website already set up, a good community of players etc etc.

When you start your own clan you'll have trouble setting yourself apart from the masses of other servers out there. Most of the time your server will be empty and the nights you want to have a game it might not be possible to do so (on your own server). I'm only saying this because I've been in quite a few CSS clans out there now and the new ones starting off always seem to struggle. You will need a good few members to get the ball rolling as who would want to join a clan with just 5 members or so?

That said though, if you can get around 10-15 friends to start with you then that's great but it is a lot of work getting everything sorted out. From the website to sorting out admin rights for people, uploading new maps and mods.....the list really does go on.

Ive played Counterstrike since it was conceived back in '99. I love source and enjoy it regardless of the community...ignorance is bliss.

Currently active at tournament.com, playing source for money.

Shit. I just had to delete the game off my PC so that I can concentrate on more important things. Maybe after I finish my summer classes I can install it and get back into it. I'm pretty good, just not very good.

The graphics are way better but the target-boxing has been majorly screwed up. I miss the game as it was back when it first came out. I know you can still play it, but after source I'm like a man marooned.

thanks for the input guys. I have been looking at server prices and right now it just seems way to much. Like most of you I am a hardcore collector and love my consoles so I can really justify shelling out 200-400 dollars a year for a pub server when I could spend that on games, food, bills, whatever else.

I am currently a member of N1S but one of my best friends who recruited me got into a fight with some of the other guys and now he wants to leave and wants me to come with him. I dont have a problem with going with him but one of the things we were thinking about was starting up a new clan but it seems like it will be way to hard right now.

Anyway if any of you want to play with me on CSS pm me or something and we can set it up. N1S has a pub or two, a zombie mod server, and a private scrimm server.

    Thanks again for the input!

I wish I knew more people who played Counter-Strike 1.6. CS Source runs horribly on my Pentium 4 2.4GHz 1GB RAM nVidia 6800 GT OC machine. :(

I have no clue really. I've asked on other forums, but no one was able to help me. I've set it to the lowest settings on single player mode, but it still ran laggy. Even after a reformat (for another reason) it gave the same results.

I've just tried again (no other applications running), and I get 10fps on the lowest possible video settings on an 800x600 resolution:

That has to be a graphics card / driver issue, or a hardware failure, as Ive played on way worse.

Prolly hardware-wise, as I bought this card off eBay. Could it also be the power supply I'm using?
