As mentioned above? and what do people actually use it for? im into all things tech but Twitter seems to have baffled me except to use it for business anyone got any thoughts on this? also if you can add you twitt name in this thread id like to see what people use it for Regards Dakar:wink-new:
I have twitter account but all I do is follow a few people for when their web site goes down. Never sent a tweet myself.
I have a twitter, but I only follow bukkit for new dev builds. We should start a thread of our twitter names to follow one another. if anyone wants to know, @conkerthered
I also have Twitter but fail to see the point of it other than to inform people of a new YouTube video or site update and in that case RRS would be the same. People send me short private mesages but yo can do that over email and make more sense due to there being no limit. My Twitter account is @RetroCoreYakumo
@Borman18 I post bits of my thoughts, things for my website, frustrations, anything that comes to mind that I wouldn't mind hearing other people reply to.
@tim_hugall Followed all of you btw. I use mine mostly for App promotion and support. The rest of the time I just post weird or funny stuff and talk about my general day to day life.
I will follow all of you once I am near my computer, I would suggest you all do the same. We can create our own little twitter community.
Awesome, Subbed ,subbed and subbed again If anyone's interested my is: https://twitter.com/Vintage_Tech_ Regards Dakar
do i have twitter? yes do i use it? yes what do i use it for? many things I have only recently started using it, its good for keeping up with news on various fronts and getting things straight from the horses mouth so to speak. also good for following sport related stuff, mostly football(soccer) as im detached a bit from the clubs i support / follow due to geographic location and also other fans etc. and joining in with the banter, or having a good old fashioned argument in 140 chars or less great when bored or unable to sleep. i normally welcome any form of free communication or anything that enables it. as i said im a relative newcommer to the twitter scene. @synrgy87 is my twitter tag be warned if you decide to follow, i tweet whats on my mind, i may not be safe for work and come with a parental advisory warning.
ANYONE who has a business or a website should be using Twitter. And a Facebook page. And maybe other social networking sites (e.g. Linkedin). Why? - news - customer support - marketing - publicity - following conversations about your product - finding potential customers but most importantly.... - SEO Keeping an active Twitter and Facebook presence is essential to keep your Google ranking up. As a personal thing, you can use it exactly as you use Facebook or any social networking site - to talk to friends. You could use it as a mini blog, sure. I like to use it to complain about bad service - often, a company will reply (phone companies and ISPs especially). I'll also happily Tweet about good service - both telling the company I'm happy with them, and making my friends aware of their service. For every 10 people who report bad service, only 1 will report good service! You can use it to keep up with what's what with your favourite celebrities and bands - sometimes they'll interact with you, even! And you can use it sort of like an RSS feed for news and such, keeping all news events in one place (e.g. follow BBC News, Top Gear and Xbox for all your news, including motoring and gaming). You can find people using hash tags (or keywords) with similar interests and engage in conversations. Most people on Twitter will be happy to include you in their conversation. You can see what's trending - which will probably be something newsworthy, or someone who died. Basically, if you're one of those people who think that Twitter is just for posting what you're having on your toast this morning, you're really not using it correctly!
Yep +1 on complaining and praising companies. Great for YouTube video links when posting as well! Well that's what I use it for. :victorious:
