I just started playing it yesterday...right now I'm at the Museum. The story seems a little confusing so far, but that might be because I'm not far enough into the game. So far, though, I think the script is really good...and its actually funny! It captures the feel of the old Ghostbusters movies really well. Its closer to the first movie because of the ghosts that are in it, I think. I think the game takes place two years after the second movie, and you play as this rookie guy who never talks, which kind of annoys me, but whatever. So, I noticed a lot of people were being hyped for this game on here, and when it came out, no one said anything...thats usually a bad sign...I probably won't replay it a TON, but I kinda like it, more than Star Wars: The Force Unleashed anyway, which was another movie tie-in game, sort of. EDIT: Oh yeah, I have the 360 version BTW
I beat it. Was a good length, and mostly fun. Obviously not a perfect game, but I totally enjoyed it so that's what matters.
I've played both the 360 and Wii versions and to be perfectly honest, the Wii version was the most fun. The 360 and PS3 versions have some really nasty difficulty peaks where as the Wii is a nice curve. Also slamming the ghosts about on the Wii feels much better and less of a chour than the other two versions. Of course the other two versions look better but overall the Wii is the better game believe it or not. And before anyone says I'm blowing the Wii version because I own one, you're wrong. Like I said, I've played 360 and Wii and being a Ghostbusters fan i wanted to see which was best. (there's a thread I made last year saying I would buy a 360 just for Ghostbusters because I never liked the way the Wii version was shaping up). yakumo
I beat it this morning...I played it in a marathon last night till this morning, got 2 hours of sleep, went to work, and now I'm on my lunch break. lol I thought the story was really good, and it ties in to a lot of other phenomena in the second movie. Couple of things that bugged me, though. Warning! Spoilers! 1. How did Ivo Shandor locate the Slime, and figure out how to produce it? And among other things, how did he create the intricate Mandala? They don't really go into much detail over it, and its hinted at that the black slime in his private island castle that he's producing was the same stuff that was in Ghostbusters 2....that pink crap. 2. Ivo Shandor turns into a "God", and is not made out of Marshmallows, yet he still gets defeated when they all cross the streams on him? What? And then Egon goes "WE EAT GODS FOR BREAKFAST." So cheesy...I know its funny because Egon never says stuff like that, but still. That part was anticlimactic for me. I was half expecting his destructor form to be some other giant brand name creature....like the Michelin Man! Other than that stuff, I liked the game. I played it with surround sound with the lights off, the Return to castle Sedgewick, on floor 12, was actually pretty creepy. The toilet artifact made a really unnerving noise for me...that flushing sound, followed by a creepy ass gargle...
I played it for like 30 seconds and it was fun. I'm waiting to coop through it with a special someone though. It didn't look too bad. And it's been renting really well at my store.
Interesting, is it already out in the EU? I read about that game and I always loved the movies. I have to get that one as soon as I see it in the stores for the Wii.
I think theres a delay in Europe, Sony wanted it ps3 exclusive for that region for at least the first few months. The 360 version in the US can be played on UK systems, apparently. Not sure about the wii version, probably will be out when the 360 version comes out in the UK. If US wii games can play in UK wiis, you can just import it. Also, the wii version is very different from the 360/ps3, though the basic story is the same. If you can I really recommend playing it on 360/ps3.
I see...well, then I think I will have to wait for the EU release...I just a bought a Wii recently and I don't think I have the money for another console...not in near future. So I guess I have to try the Wii version first. I have a usual Wii, not with chip or anything else, so my thought is, that it won't be able to play any imported NTSC game. But I'll see, I think I will get it as soon as it is out here and maybe take a look at the other 360/PS3 versions.
we have two princess users, no castle O_O on another note, I played the ps3 demo - not bad at all actually, got me in the movie mood right away, although I found the ghost catching element quite cumbersome and unintuitive.
The catching ghosts part takes abit to learn, mostly because the verbal and onscreen instructions they give are terrible. If you pause the game and look for the written instructions, its really clear on what to do. It does take practice, which is one of the aspects I like. You get a real feeling of accomplishment when you bust some ghosts.
