I'm a fan myself, but it really is the worst thing James Rolfe's done yet. I figured it wasn't going to be the best thing in the world, but I was actually kind of interested to see what he might do with his first full length film. You can tell from his non-AVGN stuff like Monster Madness that he really does have a pretty broad knowledge and genuine love of film, it's just a shame that he didn't really seem to apply any of that when it came his time to direct. Thoughts?
To see the movie you really need to be in the AVGN mood or else you are not going to like it, The camera and the Music was very well done tbh, the the humor is just the typical AVGN movie. other then that, the acting could be a bit better but it was entertaining in overal!
It should of ended at an hour and 30 minutes. I feel that the 2 hours dragged on. The funniness ended after the hour I feel, after all I'm just happy for James that he got one of his all time life goals achieved.
Like Hexingon says I find it boring after the hour, had to stop it and resume later to finally finish it. The acting could be better.
I enjoyed it. It has alot of references to various AVGN and related videos. It is a rather long movie but it's not like it isn't the only movie like that. I'm not sure what you mean by the acting could have been better, it's not supposed to be a serious drama or something. Some people that might be unhappy with it may be because of the extremely long wait. Anytime you know something is coming but it takes years seems like that. Maybe really high expectations develop. If you've watched lots of AVGN videos and enjoyed them, you should enjoy the movie I think. It's not the greatest film ever made. But it wasn't meant to be.
I have to say that I fully enjoyed the AVGN movie. The end did drag on a little but overall it was a very very good movie. Especially when you consider its a low budget amateur movie. It's far more entertaining than a lot of the crap Hollywood produces that's for sure.
A low budget is no excuse. I like the Angry Video Game Nerd a lot, his reviews are very funny. So, it pains me to say: this is one of the worst movies I ever saw in my life, and certainly one of the worst comedies. It is almost embarassing and ridiculous.
Most of that money went on his kids college fund and paying of his mortgage. It was an aright movie, I enjoyed the first two thirds but then lost all interest with the whole alien subplot nonsense.. oh well.
It looks like a cheap version of Asylum/SyFy movies. Yeah, low budget and blablabla, but i dont find it interesting. He is a big fan of low-budget movies but he doesnt seems to have learned a thing. Sorry AVGN but better keep reviewing movies.
Its an entertaining movie and if you like AVGN then you really will find it funny at times. The move though is a watch it once kind of thing. Its just not good enough to watch multiple times.
I love the AVGN videos - watched every single one of them since shortly after he became more popular in 2006 or 2007 and still watch the new episodes. The new ones use more refined equipment, but are still very fun. This being said, I have also been following the movie's development and watched most of James's updates on the production with great interest. I never expected much, but got a little scared when he showed the big monsters as a preview... it doesn't seem to make a lot of sense in an AVGN movie, but matches his passion for horror and monster movies. I'm a bit scared to watch the entire movie in the next couple of days because I fear that it's going to be an awful flick. But there's no way around it!! I hope it's at least great fan-service because I'm still a fan and I want service. If it is, I'm satisfied
He always tries to go too far over the top and it just doesn't work. The worst reviews, in my opinion, are the ones with plot (aside from the Halloween themed ones). I'll watch the movie at some point, but when he started talking about budgets, special effects and casting, I knew that it wasn't going to be anything like the other videos and that isn't what I am looking for.
I'm yet to see the AVGN movie but the videos inside the cinema make it look like a riot! Everybody seems to be having a good laugh! Should I bother waiting for the UK Blu-Ray?
I have never eaten McDonalds, but the commercials make it look delicious! Everybody seems to be smiling & enjoying their meals. Should I go there or to that 5 star restaurant that doesn't pay for commercials? Don't trust everything you see. First of all, these people were at the premier of James' movie & would most likely get to see him talk after, which is exciting in itself. Secondly, they are some of his biggest fans, so they would be most forgiving as well as the most biased. Thirdly, even if they didn't think it was all that great, they were probably decent enough to respect the man behind the work for everything else he has already provided them with. If you are a fan of the AVGN, I recommend to give it a watch. That being said, it is pretty damn awful. I recall laughing twice for real, & a couple more smirks after that. A single one of his YouTube videos blows this movie out of the water (entertainment value-wise).
The only part I actually enjoyed was the end credits (SPOILER, HIGHLIGHT TO READ) Where he reviews Atari E.T. ... or 'Eee Tee', since the movie doesn't feature footage of any real-life games, but rather close animated fascimiles. This is kind of jarring during the review because it looks ALMOST like it, but different enough that you can tell he's not really playing the game (ET's movement speed seems to change randomly and the score counts down when he's not moving. Meh, it's a minor complaint, and I admit it's an elegant way to get around the copyright issue). It's basically just a good old fashioned Nerd review where he makes some good points and cracks the only decent jokes in the whole thing. It's the only part of the whole movie that didn't feel insanely forced.
