Why not release the game on CD? It'd be much easier to produce music, I could help you with the music this way.

Though it'be nice to have tools to play with the sound chip of the PCE to see what it can do. How was the music coded into games?

I've worked on a few projects over my time, though nothing has ever been released :)

I've started work on some stuff on the PC side at the moment, learning OpenGL. I've done mostly DirectX in my time, so I figured I should take a step back and try something a bit more portable.

Anyway, as I don't actually have any ideas for games at the moment, I've been working on building a re-usable framework of game related bits and pieces.

You can check out my progress at my blog, though at the moment there isn't much detail released (Only been working on it a few weeks) :

Do ports count? I'd like to code something original like Chris... but ports are easier at the moment ;)

So... R-Type 2 and Dragon Warrior currently for the PCE CD.

Cool!! I never got into the whole porting thing. I guess I'd rather just make my own stuff.

Great job. The graphics are fun in a 90s sort of way and are quite well done. Kudos for finishing a homebrew game :D

Im working on a Sonic the Hedgehog fan game based upon the UK comics.

Currently stands as a 3D Platforming RPG for the PC.

So far I've written a 3rd person camera with good wall collision detection and have a fully moving and animated Sonic model.

Me and Segafan4life are in the VERY early stages of making a Dreamcast Shmup.

Do you plan to release it on CD or cartridge?

It's out in ROM format, but next year I hope to have a CD release with music.

I'm surprised no one has created a cartridge PCB for the TG-16/PC Engine.

Hell, they exist for the Lynx, and I'm sure that wasn't as popular as the PC Engine.

Actually, a cart PCB has been created by a fellow NES-dev'r, but as I mentioned early on with my game, good sound & music tools for the PCE are nonexistent. Although it'd be nice to sell a cart for folks still carrying around Turbo Expresses, I think it's a much cheaper and better proposition to sell my game on CD with redbook audio.

Do you have any link to details of the cartridge?
