This morning there was a feature on TV stating how bad the iPhone 5's new map system was. Apparently the many areas in Japan are completely documented wrongly which in return has the phone sending people to the complete wrong location. Talk about a major fuck up. They should have stayed with Google maps.
Google maps did a great job of taking me the wrong direction quite a few times when I was over in Tokyo. Half the time, I just resorted to looking at the maps on the street corners instead.
One thing Apple is usually good at is polishing something so well that by the time any end user gets ahold of it you could use it to focus the sun into a death ray. Maybe Apple is finally losing their touch? If anything by sticking with Google Maps any possible problems could easily be blamed on Google regardless of whose fault it was.
lol. Google Maps sent my friend and myself past the landmark 3 times on Saturday, GPS will never be 100%. Apple on the other hand should of at least documented the locations correctly, Google Maps at least have areas listed properly.
It's all over the world, dude. Cupertino is a mere 45 minute drive from San Fran, but they even misplaced the Golden Gate Bridge for Fuck's Sake. Apple has redefined a lot of things, and now shitting the mattress is one of them.
hahahahaha, so it's not just Japan then. as for Google maps, well, they've never sent me the wrong way unless the area was recently developed in the last 2 years. man, what a fuck up. I'm glad I moved away from iPhone. I had a play with the iPhone 5 and you knwo, it's the same bloody thing that I bout 3 years ago with a few new add-ons. Time for a new look to the ISO system IMO.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rdIWKytq_q4 As much as I'd like to attribute this to Apple users being stupid it is far more likely that people are being suckered in because of an authority figure telling them that it is in fact the iPhone 5. The dude holding his 4S to the camera crew's 4S? He was told it was an iPhone 5 and didn't want to look stupid inevitably showing he is stupid. I'd imagine you would be able to pull this off with a Samsung made phone except they all look different enough to not be as easily confused. My Captivate looks very similar to a Vibrant (albeit mine says AT&T on it and the Vibrant says T-Mobile denoting an extremely obvious difference) but is very different from a Galaxy S II or III.
IMO it's too early to say Apple's lost it, but the cracks in the facade are starting to show. Both the 4S and 5 were hardly breaking any new ground, and they've put too much stock into Siri, which is a toy at best, especially if you don't live in the US.
Thing is, apple fanboys will forget all about this and shower apple with praises as things get worked out
I never always agreed with Apple's moves at first, like Multicore machines, Windows compatibility, Dropping the Optical for thin, SMALL SSD over standard HDs, dropping flash, the iPhone, and now this map situation. seems almost always, someways and somehow everyone just went with it and whatever Apple pioneered or used as a standard, everyone else follows...........
Oh my got it's the IPhone 5! Now with 3 more features then the Iphone 4. The Iphone 4 is so outdated!!!!
In all fairness though, I have some Apple products. I can fault any company I want to if I use their product long enough. Linux has tons of problems and it's what I'm on most of the time. It's also free though. But yeah, the fanboys of Apple are definitely a rung above the rest.
