Most of the arcade's around my hometown have been six feet under for years now. Oddly, though, a new one just opened up one of the major malls. Not a great place to go though, just some DDR stuff and delux cabs. It's just too expensive to do arcades anymore, both for the owner and for the player. I hope online for consoles really begins to take off this generation (it's STILL not where I want it to be) and that will replace the big hole in my heart.

Nothing beats approaching strangers in an arcade and laying the beat-down though. Those days will be missed.

there is a local arcade thats been open for 8+ years now called boomers in boca raton ,fl which is 2 floors about 4 years ago they took over a major arcade called grand prix in holywood ,fl its 2 buildings 2 go kart tracks and a big mini golf corse and bumber boats and a roller coaster. the boca one has declined alot they dont keep up matince on machines and rarly get new games in, but the one in hollywood had a wide selection of new and old arcade games and gets pretty crowed. other than that arcades in malls around me went out along time ago. gaming centers (PC,Xbox,ps2,etc) are becoming popular around here. its cool because it has an arcade feel to it but they are more intimate than arcades.
