With Jambo Safari finally being released on the Wii, it got me to thinking about a few other arcade games that have never seen home conversions.

I think the biggest one for me would be Planet Harrier, a two player Space Harrier game running on the Crazy Taxi arcade board. It was absolutely beautiful. There's also the large scale shooting games like Jurassic Park or Star Trek Voyager which would have made boring console ports anyway.

Anyone have a favorite arcade game still unreleased?

Konami's X-Men and Simpsons and in the same vein, Sega's Spider-Man arcade
    Virtua Cop 3
    House of the Dead 4
OutRunners (The MD port was so godawful it doesn't count)
After Burner Climax (XBLA release please? :-()

Daytona USA 2 (Sega), Ace Driver - Victory Lap (Namco), Winning Run (Namco), Scud Race (Sega), Super Bug (Atari), TX-1 (Tatsumi), F1 Exhaust Note (Sega), Slipstream (Capcom), Indy 500 (Sega), Wangan Midnight - Maximum Tune (Namco), Rave Racer (Namco), Skywolf (Kyugo), Grand Champion (Taito), etc, etc.. Lots of games I would have like to have seen converted but never were. :(

Like a lot of games based on licenses it's unlikely to ever to be released on another format...

It wasn't that bad... it was still fun and playable. :) I always wanted a Super Monaco GP pack to be released as a Sega Ages collection, as you could have had the many Monaco GP games, Turbo and Super Monaco GP. :D

Simpson arcade did get releases on the PC and C64. They were piss poor though, so I guess that doesn't really qualify.

The title says "never released on consoles" so technically, they don't count anyway :110:

Can't believe I forgot Golden Axe: Revenge of the Death Adder in my last post. Also, Namco's Finest Hour was pretty nice, reminded me of Assault Suits Valken/Leynos and in general, felt more like a console game than an arcade one anyway.

Tons really. Where is After Burner Climax on PS3/X360? What about a definitive Daytona USA compilation (1 and 2 from arcade, and a remake) ? Virtua Cop 3?

Curiously, it's Sega that doesn't like porting their arcades lately. Plus they seem to forgot lots of franchises they have. Instead, they release an arcade crap like Sega Race TV...

Why not making a racing game where you race through USA (something like a mix between the Outrun series and Cruisin' Usa). Now the technology can help. Even when it lacked, they managed to do it.

Where a new beat'em up like Streets of Rage? A fun game like Dynamite Deka?

And of course, not arcade related, but can Sega make a decent Sonic game? Where's Alex Kidd? Where's Sega fantastic games?

Nintendo makes money whoring all their franchises, while Sega kept them locked somewhere.

Yeah, well if you're going to mention the GS, then I'm gonna have to mention that it only played C64 cartridges, and the Simpsons game was never released on cartridge. So it still wasn't released on consoles

Sega Strike Fighter is an obscurish arcade game that was never ported. It could have been a good counterpart to Ace Combat, and I believe it was a Naomi game too, so porting it to the Dreamcast would have been a breeze.

Oh god, I'd love to see a console release of Tumble Pop! As for Rodland, I'm almost certain it was released on a console. Maybe I'm thinking of Pop 'n Magic though?

Indeed Rodland was released on the Famicom and NES, as well as various home computers including the Spectrum, C64, Amstrad, Amiga, Atari ST. All conversions by SCI..

Genesis Shadow Dancer isn't the same game as the arcade one, though.

Nobody has mentioned SegaSonic the Hedgehog, the arcade Sonic game yet..seems like most of the games mentioned are Sega! But I'll put another obscure one out there and say Data East's awesome Nitro Ball was never released on consoles. I guess the best way to describe that would be a cross between Ikari Warriors and pinball...and that doesn't really do it justice anyway.

I indeed remember Rodland on the FC/NES now. My bad. Tumble Pop is better, IMHO. Star Trigon is available on the iPHone if you want to call that a game.

I just got a book featuring all JPN and Overseas arcade games through 2005... I'm sure I could polute this thread if I had the time.
