Alright, from what I understand, MVS boards use carts with the actual games on them. Are the boards different? Or is any cart able to be used in any MVS board? Also, do these hook up to a supernova easily? Do Naomi systems also hook up to a Supernova? And are they specifically made for a game, or are they also interchangable? Thanks
Yes, MVS boards use interchangeable cartridges. Are the boards different? Which boards? There are different MVS mainboards and there are different game boards. Different Neo games have different onboard hardware dictated by the game. All MVS games can be run on all MVS mainboards. Yes, it "hooks" to a Supernova easily but I'm not sure if the Supernova intercepts the Neo Geo's D button which rests on the JAMMA fingerboard instead of an aux cable. Naomi can be used with a Supernova provided you have the "I/O" board and an amplifier as well as a cable to direct buttons 4-6 to the Supernova.
Yea, what are the main differences between MVS mainboards? Does it really matter which that I choose? Id probably like one where I can place a Universal Bios chip into it, but other then that, i have no real specific games i want. The Naomi will have to wait a bit then, id rather try my hands at a MVS system first
Here is a PCB Guide from HardMVS. Best board to get for the Universal Bios would be one with sockted bios because it will be easier to swap. Hope that helps.
A Naomi setup is expensive... not really worth it considering damn near every Naomi game worth a shit is on the Dreamcast. There are some interesting Naomi2 games, but then again...cost pops up.
