Cave of course. G.Rev has made 2 shooting games...ever. While they're fun in their own right, neither of them show the level of dedication that either of the Cave teams' games have. And yes, I understand G.Rev does it on minimal manpower. They're soon-to-be codeveloped game is a golden piece of shit. G.Rev should've been the silent partner.
I did like the puzzle game that G.Rev did. What do Toaplan, Cave, Seibu Kaihatsu, Psikyo, V System and Konami all have in common? Here is a hint, it's nothing to do with shoot 'em ups.
Why? Would it be better on the PS3???? Think not. Anyway it's on the 360 as well. But who cares, it's pretty poor anyway. Shikigami No Shiro II on the Dreamcast and Game Cube is way better. In fact I though Shikigami III was so poor that I sold my copy. Yakumo
You ve said that before, and I m sick of Wii-bashing. It's not like the game could really be any better on the 360 for example. Besides, we re all grown ups here, work a job, get some cash, buy a Wii, they re not all that bad you know.
I don't think they are making a come back. But that's also cause I don't think they went down the tubes. I would say that 2D (gameplay) shooters like Ikaruga have slowed down since the death of the arcade outside of Japan. But there are still some very nice shooters out there. Also, I don't think that alot of these shooters will ever be as main stream as things like Pac-Man or Galaga were in the past. Nowdays I really do think most people are too busy buying lame and average 3D games. And most of the big attension goes to big name titles like Call of Duty, Gears of War, Halo, etc. While the 2D shooter might work as a cheap quick download in the arcade, I doubt it will be released in any large numbers elsewhere. It just seems to me in the last few years if you want new 2D shooters you have to import them from japan. I'm not really that concerned as I still have tons of games from many systems I've not played so I'm in no danger of running out of shooters.
While I don't think 2D shoot'em ups are making a comeback as genre. I am please to see these games are getting representation on this gens systems dowload services (VC, XBLA, PSN)... Being able to play some of the TG-16's shooters with out having to drag out the original hardware (and haveing to deal with extremely short controller cables) is will worth it to me!!
