I guess I would be considered a vet. First I had some keyboard looking TV gaming system for kids. I can remember playing it as young as 4. I know because I moved out of our trailer in Canaan at 4 and I have vivid memories playing it there. Shortly after moving I we got an nes, probably near the end of its life when I was 4 or 5. I loved Mario, and wanted to play Zelda so bad but was too young to understand how to play. I remember my parents hated renting it because I always needed help. Probably around 93 I we got the SNES for Xmas. Ended up being mine because my sister was not into gaming. Around that same time, the video rental store was clearing stock of their nes games. A buck each. By the time it was over I had about 40 to 50 nes games. I remember trading my nes for genesis, trading back... Then a friend from school that had two genesis with the Sega CD and 32x gave me his older Genesis. Didn't get a new system until the PlayStation was nearing the end of its life. Don't know what ever happened to my nes, original gameboy, genesis or SNES or the probably around 100 games that went to them. Thinking my mom or dad probably tossed them out or have them away. Neither of them will admit to any of it. I have managed to re aquire some of what I used to have. At one point I had every Zelda for the handheld console either CIB or sealed, along with the official guide to go with them, either mint or sealed. So, yeah, I think I may be a veteran. Got into it at the best time of gaming I think. I remember my cousin had the Atari when I got my nes. She thought it was so much better, but I could not for the life of me get into it. I have owned a lot of systems in my 30 years, and not once came close to buying one. Maybe someday just for the sake of having one. Growing up a poor gamer wasn't easy, but had good friends that also could not get it all and wanted to try new things helped a lot... Trading and loaning and borrowing. Tried to let my son get into gaming a couple years ago with the ds lite. He got mad playing a Yoshi game, and bit the top screen and ruined it. Since I have not let him touch any of my systems, but he has been doing good with his kindle, and if he can show me he deserves it I am going to give him my modded Wii, with all the great retro games I grew up on installed on it. Train him right with Mario and Zelda from GBA and earlier
