Hey all, recently I purchased a XDK Xenon Development console which came with sidecar and cords. When I turned on the Development Kit I noticed a whole lot of .xex files called AC13. I originally didn't load them up but instead opened the disc drive to find a plain white disc in the console. Upon loading the disc I found out it was a 95% final build of Ashes Cricket 2013. After trying the disc, I decided to run several .xex files. I was interested to see that all the files are approx 2GB in size and have different stages of development, different UI's from the final build. I know it is not a great game but I have never heard or seen anyone having an Xbox 360 Debug/Development disc of this game. I know the game came out for a few days on Steam, but according to all the information I can find it was terrible and was cancelled just before it's release on Wii U, PS3 and Xbox 360.
Yeah, the 360 and PS3 (I didn't know of an impending Wii U release) releases were canned once the Steam release came out as a hot, steaming (see what I did there), pile of crap. Though, it might have only been slated for PAL releases on the consoles.
Backing up the disc now, then I'll start doing the files. The game honestly is horrible. It was so bad I was half debating not bringing it to light lol. I honestly don't know if I should throw the disc on the marketplace. Here have another bad screenshot. Apologies my photography skills aren't great (I will start to screenshot from neighbourhood). For some reason on one set files loaded a pink cricket ground. View attachment 12974
My bad that was one of the .xex files, sorry I didn't specify I have like 8 different versions of the game in development. The pink cricket ground was a very early build, it also has a white home screen with white text making it impossible to see what menu you select until the grey text in the sub menu appears at the top of screen. This is game footage of the 95% disc not that it's much better as the graphics and gameplay still suck! View attachment 12976 Here is the Xbox Dashboard with the game in the drive. Here is a very short clip of gameplay
You have 8 different versions of this game? Can You tell me the development % of those different versions?
A couple are like 25-35% built and are literally menus, some are closer to about 70% mainly just lacking some gameplay or freezing during gameplay and the White disc "final build" is probably closer to 90-95% it's hard to tell simply because the gameplay and graphics suck. But some examples are things like the loading bar, in the original release and white disc the bar is a pair of stumps which appears and disappears. In earlier examples it's a round circle turning. In the 90-95% final build main menu text is at the top of screen and is a simple red background with a pattern and animation, the text is grey background with blue text. In other builds the text its at the bottom of the screen and it can be white text with a white background and then a selection of submenu appears at the top right. In another build it has a red background similar to the more final build and a photo of a cricket ground. Some versions crash at gameplay, some work to a point. The game is really buggy in all versions. I was bowling and the AI ended up making 1 run then they stopped in there creases. Next thing I know the not on strike batsman randomly sprints to be on strike so I have both batsmen at 1 crease. I'm like WTF! The game just said "no" as in no more running and he takes off. I'm like wow this is crap the I watched reviews for the steam version and this is too common.
LOL. If that's really true then no suprised it was canceled. It doesn't look good and pretty much broken. Sound like AC Unity.
