the PowerVR2DC / CLX2 in Dreamcast can indeed do bump mapping, but at a large performance cost. some games do use it. i'll have to research what games use it. but i know some do.

You only have to look at floor in Soul Calibur to see the bump mapping. PSO looks like it may also use it but I'm not to sure about that one.

    I will try to see.
But, it's only possible to "see" the bump when the light source changes or moves. I don't remember this happening in Soul Calibur.

    Hi,

I received today a SEGA DREAMCAST SET 2.1 ARC1A PROTOTYPE BOARD PWH-6032 but without the DC R2 SDK or drivers.

jollyrogerdev if you know where I can find another R2 SDK please let me know so I can run the R2 demos, specially Scud Race / Super GT!
Have you tried the board in Windows XP?

    Thanks!

Would anyone happen to know where I could find a vid of this Scud Race demo? I remember jollyrogerdev had one on his site, but it's been down for months now. :(

On a related note, has there ever been an effort to make the Scud Race demo run on a commercial Dreamcast? Is it possible?

I don't believe it is. I was told by someone that the code was made to test out the dev hardware and that it wasn't similar enough (hardware wise) to run on an actual Dreamcast. Don't remember who or where anymore.

If you look at the demo it suffers some frame rate issues and has terrible pop-up. Also there are no cars on screen and the background is simplified.

However, this was an early demo on how to get something up on screen so you can't really make a fair judgement. Scud Race would have been a beauty to own though, but Outrun 2 plays reasonably similarly to satisfy me :)

    You and your hardware.

Scud race still doesn't work for some reason.

YouTube says the Scud Race video is not available, in fact none of those links work.

Unless it takes more than 4 hours to upload?

Yeah, I have no clue what on earth is wrong with YouTube's servers. All videos were working fine, then only three were. Now it seems like only one of them is working.

How rare, I was just reading about this on "a popular technical website" which references your site.
