Atomiswave ports to Dreamcast Petition

Discussion in 'Rare and Obscure Gaming' started by Greatsaintlouis, Jun 8, 2004.

  1. Just wanna say that we have 930 entries for the online petition so far :smt023 , let's hope we'll get a similar number for the real petition too - the paper petition!

I'm sure if people had to pay for the game when they sign, that numbers would be smaller... :smt009
An occidental petition could help a bit, but I think the real option is getting Japanese dreamcast gamers active in this kind of campaign. They are really who buy a lot of units.

  6. Not a bad idea...
But you could contribute: Write a letter, do your own paper petition and let it sign by your friends, be creative etc and send all this stuff to Dreamcast-Scene.com

    Post contact

    ...but first read this:

    http://www.dreamcast-scene.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=410

Because I know that Tec Toy has done it before with the SEGA Master System and the SEGA Genesis/MegaDrive, I think that it's possible that they'll also start to produce some new games for it... On the other hand: Let's have a look again at the mail from Sammy that I've recieved:

Well, I can still see Tec Toy's Mega Drive and Master System being sold brand new on stores, but it's been a long time since I've seen a Saturn or a Dreamcast being sold.
Maybe Johnny has seen any, since he lives in a much bigger city than I do.

Putting this on 2ch or something isn't a bad idea. That's a kind of mainstream BBS though... I'm not sure of a good JPN BBS where DC fans hang out, other than the not-so-populated board on Sega's site.

I'm a bit doubtful about Tectoy actually producing any new DCs and Saturns and respective games... would be helluva great if they did, but I dont think they got the faciltiies :smt017

Same here, i think they'd just sell refurbed stuff and old stock or do they really have production plants to make new saturns and dreamcasts ?

Nothing more beautiful than a stack of games on tatami. Am I the only one w/ the De La Jet Set Radio LE? Even in his pics of LE's he didn't have one.

Anyways, the BBS doesn't seem that active... I'm thinking of something where you could reach the masses, other than YJ.

  13. :prayer: Thank you for the links! Some more would be greatly appreciated!

    ---

Latest SMS game from TecToy (released 2003): 20-in-1 (not 50-in-1 as I've written above)

    Latest Genesis/MegaDrive game (released 1998 or maybe 1999): DukeNukem3D
    [IMG]

IMO both games are... er... not that good...

Don't know about their own facilites but as they still sell & support older SEGA hardware by TecToy in Brazil...:

If you lot really want to make yourselves heard, get 1000 people to email Sammy. Don't want to spoil the moment, but this 1 petition isn't really going to register any recognition in a large company. Inboxes filled to the brim for 2 weeks is far more likely to.

Well, it's like this. Since 1998, no more cartridges were manufactured or sold for Master System or Mega Drive (with the exception being Show do Milhão, for Mega Drive).

All you can get now is this:

    - Master System with 70+ games on internal memory. You can use old cartridges on it.

    - Mega Drive with 30+ games on internal memory. You can use old cartridges on it, BUT it does not work with Sega CD, 32x and Virtua Racing does not work

    - Sega Saturn and Dreamcast. They were never manufactured here. They were assembled here with parts from Sega of America.

All Sega Saturn games sold here are the american discs with manuals and box in portuguese. They even included those ESRB icons like T for Teen, M for Mature. If i'm not mistaken only Riven was manufactured here, since it has subtitles in portuguese.

On the Dreamcast, i don't know much about it. I know it was sold without the modem ( and costed more than an imported one WITH the modem ), and just some games were released. I don't believe more than 50 games were released. Again i think all are american discs with just the box and manuals in portuguese.

Plus here in Brazil there's some Dreamcast's with the blue logo, indicating that Tec Toy bought some from Europe, after the system stopped being manufactured and just converted it to PAL-M.

These days Tec Toy seems to be working more with DVD Systems and Karaoke System than games. I doubt that they still have someone working on games. Their were working on new games and hacks more on the 90's when their systems were succesful. I guess that Duke Nukem 3D was their last "work", with Show do Milhão being just a port of the PC game (that wasn't very revolutionary graphic-wise anyway).

PrOfUnD Darkness it's probably more informed on Sega stuff, so i'll wait him to post more comments about it.

I think they have the plants to do it, since Master System and Mega Drive were huge down here. I remember seeing pics of it's plant and it looked huge.

But even though they have the capability, i don't think it's worth it. I mean it would be great for game collectors, but like i said, Tec Toy now is more focused on DVD systems and Karaoke Systems. There's no more cartridges being produced and probably all Sega Saturn and Dreamcast games are being sold to clear their stocks.

  17. So is the skeleton (clear) Saturn very common down there? I wouldn't mind trying to get my hands on one of those... :smt040

  18. @Johnny: I really thank you for you information. But it seems as they are still sold (and advertised at their website), new games by Japanese producers such as SAMMY aren't uninteresting for the Brazil Dreamcast fans ;)

Yeah, that's why we started the paper petition! Please join us by contributing some paper peition with signatures of your friends and relatives, a picture ect, write SAMMY an online mail (see links and postal adress of Dreamcast-Scene.com above!) so this last attempt will have success.

  19. For you who would like to contact Sammy outright by e-mail, here's the link that you can use:

    https://secure.sammy.co.jp/www/contact/index_e.jsp?form=300

If you could just send them a little letter of support (and fill out as much of the personal info as you can, it makes the letters more valid-looking), it could help work wonders. You'll prolly all get the "We have no plans to make ports at this time, however we will keep your idea in mind for future projects" or similar emails, but as Alchy said, if they have to wade through LOTS of those letters to get to their other e-mail, they might take some notice.

  20. I got a PM by ~BrAzE~ as he's done a Petition form that you all can print out and send to Max aka Freeze of www.dreamcast-scene.com (see adress below)

    Here's what he wrote:

I guess Freeze will need some financial support to send all this stuff to SAMMY Japan...

Thanks go out to ~BrAzE~ for his support!
