No, the videogame market collapsed extremely in the last few months. Yakuza even broke down some shops i.e. Super Potato - not to forget the public PlayStation-Game burning on the streets.

Japan has become very dangerous for a retro game collector. They beat you up even you're just asking for a PC Engine or anything older than PS3.

Heaven help you if you're a gaijin asking for Famicom games in a shop. You might as well slap the shop keepers mother, take off all your clothes, cover yourself in Tempura dipping sauce and dry hump her. Alternatively visit Hong Kong, lots of retro game shops there.

    Yeah, I was being sarcastic.

Osaka: Den Den Town (a slight walk from Nipponbashi)
    Akihabara: Akihabara

Plenty of retro game shops. Take your ass condoms though.

That chain has a store 90 minutes out of Tokyo into Chiba. It's a long journey out to Sogo (Soga? ) onto another line and then yet another line. Somewhere past Makuhari Messe and then some but I don't have directions right now.

I'll dig them out but as I remember it was at Togane on some line S.E from Funabashi.

Got some good bargains there including the only Wondermega I ever saw in Japan and that includes checking all sorts of places in Tokyo over 6 months.

The bad part, you have a long, tisty walk (about 30-45 mins) from the station to the shop and there's no other way but walking. Taxi's seemed AWOL.

When I dig out the address and directions I'll sort out a photo guide of the journey and the shop.

As for meeting some of you fine fellows my plans to be in Kyodo for the last few months of the year have fallen through due to work needing me here.

    Tis a shame, have fun.
