Bad comments and replies to them. What's this world coming to???

OK. I started this because there is an incident happening between me and so far just one other member here. You can read what's going on over here in this thread:

My issue with this is that people here seem to think that general comments made to the WHOLE FRIGGIN world are applied to them only. Here I'm trying to be a nice guy and show how several members are being trolls and I get it thrown back into my face...

I'M done trying to help support members who are getting bad comments on their stuff!

So I've started a poll. If members feel I need to be banned, then please do so ASSEMbler.
If he doesn't, then after 30 days, if the poll shows yes, I'll log off and never get back on again.

You made the mistake of jumping in the line of fire when you didn't need to. Mods are here for a reason. And whether you like it or not the way you wrote out the 'teenage girls' bit does apply to Bad_Ad84.

 

Er, is this thread necessary? Nobody really did anything to warrant a ban. Arguments and disagreements happen all the time, it's not really something to get worked up about. If it's bothering you, just stop visiting the site for a few days and cool off. No big deal.

 

Hit the report button, and walk away. Moderators here are usually pretty good about getting to it eventually.

As the person who was put the catalyst on the bonfire, and probably creating the ignition source too, I think you probably should relax about it. No matter what your intentions, your statements on the topic implied that everyone in the argument (including myself, Haunted360, and you especially singled out Bad_Ad) were acting like teenage girls which I think is overly harsh. As you could see, I actually had to clarify about whether you thought my comment was harsh too.

Despite what you think, you did imply you were calling Bad_Ad an 'asshole' right here by 'singling him out':

...and that is just poor taste for what is essentially a poorly phrased suggestion on how to improve the design. People's comments could have been worded better, mine especially, but I think you've started digging a bit of a hole here for yourself. This'll blow over, life will go on, but I'd probably suggest not buying any modchips from him for a while, just in case.

 

I will say that, while I think you are in "the wrong" (as in Bad_ads comments were not that offensive or rude), it is just a tiny disagreement. You making it bigger than it has to be is kind of childish. Just let it be! & No, no one should be banned for such a miniscule argument! Threads shouldn't be dedicated to it, either. :witless:

 

I voted "no", because that thread alone doesn't warrant banning. However, you desire to continue the fight in another thread, might.

I understand what you were trying to accomplish, but it blew up in your face. Rather than really attempting to come to an understanding, I see this thread. Your argument was about the maturity of action involved. This is the equivalent of running home to your big brother.

I have nothing against you personally. I understand why you did what you did. I just feel that the execution was a bit off.

My advice? Drop it. All of it.

well this certainly spiraled since i left work damn!

firstly why is someone talking about banning (self banning no less!) for having a disagreement with someone on a forum (which seems partially like a misunderstanding), i mean seriously? i cant believe anyone would be offended at someone offering improvements and advice, at the end of the day its upto the individual if they want to take the advice or just say thanks but will continue as i am, obviously if the person offering the advice is being rude about it or saying its shit etc. then that is different but i didnt see any of that in the thread, again its an internet forum and typing is never a really good way of putting across your emotions properly e.g. when i was looking at the pics and reading the thread i was showing it to one of my work colleagues and commenting how i would never be able to pull something like that off, however nothing of that was mentioned in my posts in the thread so my replies may have seemed less awestruck that i actually was

First step, not get involved... So what do you do? You make a thread ABOUT YOURSELF, to get banned? The fuck?

You're not doing one step right so far, stop creating drama for nothing there are other forums with many threads that do that.

However if you want to get banned, continue what you're doing no need to make a stupid poll about it...sheesh.

a.) Argue for a few hours until the posts become TL;DR or people get so off-topic that they just end up arguing for the sake of arguing
b.) Press the red 'X' at the top of your browser, or say nothing

'cos nothing is sometimes better than something even if it leaves nothing

(and Bacteria's absurd mess of wires is pretty awesome, too)
